"Slushie" Morris hasn't had many chances yet to contribute yet. Granted, he's having problems and he'll never be as good as Griffin, but he did shoot a better percentage than him LAST NIGHT. It's unlikely that Tmo being in instead of Griffin cost the Rockets the game. It's likely that Toronto shooting 57% did cost the Rox the game, and having Griffin in place of Tmo for part of a quarter wouldn't have reduced that % nearly enough. Unfortunately I didn't see the game, so I can't speak to what matchup advantage there may have been to keeping Tmo in. Who was he guarding?
if i remember correctly, he held jerome williams. his defense was not bad, however, there is a huge difference between "ice" and "slushie" on the court as far as game impact. even if griff is 0-10 on the court, he is a big body to have to block out, his outside j MUST be respected else he shall torcheth the ass. with "slushie" you have a player who is still trying to find his confidence. players like "slushie" find their confidence and pt in games that have already been decided: aka: garbage minutes. terrence, imo, has one of the softest egos on the rox team. that's fine. but in order to coddle that ego, you must put him in low pressure situations (aka: garbage minutes). "ice" being in the game would have been advantageous to us defensively and offensively. how many 3s might he have hit in the 3rd? we'll never know. how many blocked/altered shots? we'll never know. but we DO know that - given serious minutes - he has done both of those things (and rebound) consistetly, coolly, and effortlessly. that's why he should have been in the game.
I know its tough to start qusetioning Rudy's job with all the injuries this year, but I think we must lead the league in 24 second violations. And I can't even count the number of times we've had a violation AFTER A TIMEOUT!!! And if we do get off a shot after a timeout, its usually Cuttino pulling up from 25 feet, or Moochie tossing on off the board at the 24 second buzzer. Is it so hard to diagram a play where we gett off a good shot?
