You don't need a quote. When players are interested in Dallas and not Houston, it's obvious that it isn't about small market vs. big market. It's about winning. It's about management. It's about the perceived culture of our organization. And that's not a good perception. Our FA problems will never be fixed until Morey is gone. When he leaves, the perceived culture goes with him. Plain and simple.
Has Dallas signed anyone this offseason? Plus they have a superstar in Dirk, we don't have superstar to attract other players.
So... you are saying... that it is perfectly ok to claim that 'no player wants to play for 'moneyball' without having any actual evidence that that is the case at ALL... or to say 'no owner wants to make a deal with Morey', again even though there is zero evidence that it is in any way true (not to mention the two trades Morey JUST MADE before the draft).. all because... players can actually be interested in OTHER TEAMS besides the Rockets? Right. Well, news flash Mr. Murrow, but it ain't ok to do that. That's called making things up. It can even be called LYING. It is shameful, and an honorable person does not do it. So here's a question for you: If we still had a healthy Yao Ming, and Morey the GM, do you think that somehow some of these players who don't want to play for the 'culture' here might somehow magically see past the evil Morey and still want to play here, because, as JVG said, 'You can't teach 7'6"? Players want to go to two places: 1) The place where they can get the most money, and 2) the place where they think they have the best chance of winning. And if the player is a 'max deal' superstar type, where the money will be relatively equal, then they have the luxury of trying to choose option 2. This has nothing to do with the culture, or Morey, or 'assets', or Martin's hurt butt. It has to do with the fact that we can't always offer the most money, we can't just overpay all the time, it's not like a credit card, the piper DOES come calling eventually, and until we have that superstar lure, the job is made harder. But it looks like we may still end up grabbing the biggest prize of them all (Howard) this offseason, and then once that happens, the money advantage will be on our side, which then becomes the lure for other quality talent which might otherwise choose other teams than Houston. Just wait and see what happens, this is not the time for all this crazy criticism.
Well I only liked that Beasley deal what a steal....he's RFA tho that will be matched looks like a great value for his "Robert Horry" (regular season) esque-attitude -one night 30 next night 8....
And how did Dallas get the superstar? I believe it was a draft day trade, but through the draft. Could Lamb become a superstar or D-Mo or White? I'm excited to see them play and find out. Dwight was drafted by Orlando, Bryant was a draft day trade that wanted to go to LA anyways, Durant was drafted. A lot of teams get there stars through the draft and not all are #1 picks. Kobe and Dirk were not. I'm sure Morey could get Dwight if he gave all our guys with potential plus future 1st rounders. That would be way too much and if Dwight leaves after a year, which he said he would or has injuries, which he is already having back problems then we wouldn't even be able to suck and get a high draft pick. Gordon is solid, but injury prone and we could not offer more than the max which NO will match anyways. Hibbert got the max so we couldn't beat that offer. Beasly wouldn't magically make us a title contender.
