Same here. This Wednesday will be the first Rockets game that I will be watching. Going to the game with my company.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to watch on League Pass. Having said that, I have to agree with Jeff here. Use whatever means necessary to watch your team and stick it to the greedy bastards holding our fanhood hostage.
Man I was just on chat with uverse. they said they couldn't help me. how did you guys get all your freebies? Do I have to call? I'm not very good at being a jackass to get a couple channels.
Do not have to be a jack ass. Just have to be resolute. i.e., Listen I pay XX dollars a month to ATT, have since xxx, I get all these services...XXX...I dont want to drop you, but this problem of not gettting MY ROCKETS-Its the ONLY REASON_ I HAVE CABLE_I HAVE FOLLOWED THEM FOR @) years..etc..whats your story......i want to know when you are getting them..can you tell me?...I am going to switch to comcast which I hate too do...blah blah.. ( It really helps if you take a minute and look at your bill....find osmething that deosn't look right...start off by telling them you have been loyal to att but wonder why your bill keeps going up and your service, (NO ROCKETS) is getting worse. also, tell them right off you are abig backetball fan, and ask tehm if they are...warm tehm up...dont be a robot....and definately do not use chat..that will get you no where. call in for a live person...ask them where they are...if they are not state side just hang up !!!!!!! get to the goodies via...well, ok so what can you do for me to keep me with att till this get worked out?....I want yo to lower my bill or give me some other services to make up for this injustice..it's not my fault you tow companies cant get it together and we the people who pay for this are the ones suffering...my entire family loves the Rockets and now it will spoil my holiday becuase they cant watch them at my house.....tell me what you'll do to keep me acustoner right now....before I switch to comcast... just play it !!!!!! too lazy to fix spelling...good luck !
Couldn't agree more. In fact, the drift has mostly been accomplished, due to "out of sight, out of mind." Some fans (all sports) who are old/older can say they have been lifelong fans to "their" team. But that doesn't always work out. I was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys in the '60's as a kid. After Jerry Jones bought the team and basically, axed, Tom Landry, my interest started to fade. I usually don't remember to check if they win or not now -- and don't really care. The athletes are mostly nice guys with the same passion for the game as the ones I grew up with, like Bob Lily, Bob Hayes, Don Meredith, etc. but I don't have any emotional connection to them, so if they lose I don't feel anything. Remembering to check at all, is mostly homage to those early memories. The same seems to be happening to me, you, and others regarding the Rockets. It stung to know that the new "channel" wasn't going to be on my DirecTV channel lineup when the season started. I was looking forward to seeing Calvin Murphy again, as much as watching the youngsters develop. I assumed it would work itself out at some point. Now... I really don't care. I didn't know they had a game last night against the Spurs. I check here about once a week, but given the situation, that may become a longer period. Maybe Les figured since the team was in a rebuilding mode, this season didn't really matter as far as TV coverage. Hard to imagine, but it might have crossed his mind. No matter, that is how it has worked out. I don't see this being resolved this season, unless it has more to do with the Astros in the Spring. (Do fans in China get the games? If so, that might explain the seeming apathy a lot, too.) DirecTV has a LOT of subscribers. Does anyone believe they really need a handful of Rockets fans who complain, such that they give discounts and other subscriptions to placate them? Not the least. The fact that they are doing it only underscores that they, too, have enough financial "headroom" to do it. They don't need to come to any agreement with Comcast. How many other NBA teams are with Comcast? League Pass couldn't be a viable product if they were. If they are willing to negotiate compensation with a few subscribers, imagine how Comcast would listen if Les gave them a call and said "Git 'er done." Just more proof of the apathy. Actually, the number of fans depending on DirecTV (Dish, etc.) may be so few that losing them doesn't really matter in the larger scheme of things to the Rockets. The Rockets probably appear on LP in most other states, via the opposing team's network, being blacked out only in Texas. Again, what do we Texas fans matter? And who dictates that even the game that was supposed to be on NBA TV was blacked out? No. I think the Rockets shot themselves in the foot on this one. They are limping, they just don't seem to know it yet. And when/if they ever appear on DirecTV again, as Comcast, it will be more on DirecTV's terms than theirs -- probably more in line with the deal they had when they were with FSH. So what have they accomplished? In my last post on Nov. 30, I suggested for someone in the Rockets organization, who reads Clutchfan threads, to make their case, here in this thread, for how this has shaken out. Maybe they are drifting away from CF like we are drifting away from them. Or maybe they have no good case to put forward. To post something would let fans know they are thinking about them. To not... well, "out of sight, out of mind." Battles are short-term. Wars are long term. I think the Rockets are losing both at this point. But then, that's just me.
My LP did not work last 3 games. anybody experienced the same thing? I already did a registry clean up but still it tells me, technical issues. But i can watch archived games.
Well said. Another childhood fan of the Cowboys who never looked back after they fired Landry. Then I became a big Oilers fan but never followed the Texans until last year because I found better things to do with my time when there was no Houston football to watch. I stayed at the office to watch the Rockets (we have some obscure cable that carries the Comcast channel) the first week of the season, and haven't done it since. My interest diminishes day by day. I have been a Crapcast customer before. Worst customer experience of my life times infinity and beyond. I would dig my eyes out with a rusty soup spoon before I rejoined Crapcast. The rich get richer and the rest of us will just stop caring.
this is the only way I get to see a game...We have comcast at our office and I watch the repeat of the game the day after. But I'm not really watching..it's just on in the background.
Not really recommended! I lost my eyesight in one eye about two years ago and it has been a very difficult adjustment. My eyesight isn't great in the other, but I manage. I know you were kidding, but eyesight is so precious.
Actually I owe you a beer MadMax. I saw you post about this earlier and the lightbulb came on .... I wonder what cable we have in the office???? And you know what, we had the juice. But I have only stayed late once to watch.
I hate seeing more posts in this thread. I always click it with the small hope a deal has been struck and I can finally watch the games on the big screen.
The same thing happened to me here in the hill country. I watched "Mavericks Live" at 6:30, but at 7 the screen went black with a "channel not subscribed" message. I called DTV customer support & they said it was blacked out in my area & that Fox Sports South controlled the feed & the message. That's the jest of a 15 minute "discussion". One of these days, I'll probably calm down & call FSSW>
The bombing of CSN's Facebook page has really let up. We need to get it going again. If nothing else, just for the entertainment value.
I have DirecTV and cannot watch Rockets games. I keep hearing people say short term gain, long term loss. While in fact, this situation is the exact opposite. Thier losing viewers early on, while 60% of thier audience can't watch. If and when the channel becomes available, they'll gain all those viewers back - Plus more. Especially if the team starts winning. Short term loss, long term gain. And the royalties from CSNHouston will keep coming in regardless of viewership. I've caught one game at my parents house, and the presentation is just flat out better. If I had CSN at home, I'd watch it. If/When I get CSN at home, I'm going to watch it. And so will everyone else. If the Rockets were currently a real draw, I'm confident that a deal would be done by now. I'm also confident that a deal will be done around the time the Astros start. If there's one thing that the Astros cannot afford, it's limited exposure. New logo/unis, new league, new ownership, the Yankees, Red Socks, Rangers, Angels etc... A deal will be done. (Maybe)
It's because we've all been banned from posting on their page. They don't take kind to typed words that do not hype the channel.
They just recently updated their backend, so Chrome is having problems and IE and Firefox won't work if your Adobe Flash player is a version or two out of date. Switch to Firefox and update your Adobe Flash and it will work again.
