I do empathize with Vanderjagt but in the past he always seemed so cocky, therefore I don't feel that bad. Maybe he'll take out that earring now. Peyton is a great quarterback but he looks like the anti-vince in that he shows his emotions and becomes flustered easily. I also noticed that whenever a teammate of his messed up he would sulk incessantly. Draft Vince.
Too bad, I'd loved to seen the arrogant talking sh*t SOB end his career on that fumble. Manning has to be considered one of the greatest "video game" players who can't deliver when stakes rise. Don't forget Bonehead Bus gave him another oppertunnity he should not have had, but two almost picks in the 4th. Poor field and team management most of the game by Manning.
I love sports fans. Kick 'em mercilessly while they're down. Three hours ago Peyton Manning was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and Vanderjagt was one of the best kickers in the game. Now ...
I just saw on ESPN News a reporter asked Peyton a question about why he sucked and Mack Brown answered it.
Manning had no protection out there from the extra blitzes... this is pretty much what happened to David Carr all year. I guess this should put to rest the theory that Manning would have been able to do more with our o-line than Carr was.... NOBODY can be effective without protection.
Technically, Vanderjagt should never have gotten the opportunity to kick the FG. Thus, I don't necessarily think Indy should be that hard on him.
I'm watching the Panthers/Bears and don't have ESPN News. I know it's been somewhat forgotten with the Bettis fumble and the Vanderjagt miss, but has anyone talked to the head official yet about the interception? If there is a rule where that's incomplete, it needs to be changed... but I can't imagine there's a rule to support that call. I hope they give a more detailed explanation. By the way, excellent point Nick.
Manning has never performed well in the biggest games anywhere. At Tenn (versus Florida in part) and now with the Colts. Dude just doesn't seem to really his guys and play big in the biggest situations. Needed to go to 3 steps and quick reads versus the blitz, never adjusted. Kicker should not be blamed. The Colts were an overwhelming favorite with all the offensive tools an NFL team could as for and scored only 18 points in perfect weather/perfect field with their fans. Manning and Dungy just showed poor prep and poor reaction. Maybe both should take the blame, neither actually has a good big game record.
using that logic, then every team would do that to indy all game. that's the difference, you have to pick your spots on the Colts, with the texans you don't because carr never adjusts.
Not every team has the team speed that the Steelers have. With the Texans, you don't even need team speed... they're in the backfield regardless.
Manning looked completely freaked out back there today - all the running up to the center and 'changing the play' was ridiculous and everytime he dropped back he had some seriously nervous (Carr) feet.
No doubt about it Manning and the Offense has been sh*t all day the defense was good to only give up 2 TDs Esp in the 1st quarter when all Manning could do was 3 and out Defense gives them the op to win and Peyton and crew CHOKE it off Rocket River
Manning just looks stupid. When he completed the first pass down the middle of the field, he shouldve called timeout. He had 3. Instead, he wasted about 20 seconds and then called his first timeout after an 8 yard gain. The next play, rather than throwing a quick out to the sidelines for a 1st down, he goes for the endzone twice, once almost getting intercepted. Really bad clock management leaving a long field goal.
Considering that Peyton calls all his protection it falls more on himself than Carr's issues Rocket River
