What world do we all think we are living in? There is no way in hell that we will get Baron Davis, Andre Miller, or any other max player who might actually be worth their salary for the crap that we have on our team - outside of Tmac and Yao of course. The Webber deal was unique in that they are CONTENDERS and, first of all, had serious chemistry issues between Webber and Peja. Over the last few years, they have seemed to be a pretty damn good team with or without Webber. Second, the scrubs they got in the deal are not totally useless like MoT/Spoon/Padgett. KT is always good for double/doubles, and Corliss has been a solid bench player his entire career. We have to come to the realization that the Rockets do not have many tradeable assets. We don't need to continue to waste the only assets we have - 1st round picks - on guys like GP who may not help us much this year and who would likely leave after the year anyway. Concerning BDiddy, why would New Orleans take back crappy players with crappy salaries for him? They are lottery-bound anyway. If they trade him, it will be for an expiring contract to clear cap room or for multiple promising, young prospects. We do not have either of these to offer, Golden State does. For now, I think that if we can't get a young, reliable PG who can help us both this year and in the future, we should hold onto our 1st rounders and wait for Sura...my two cents.
Just FYI, the ESPN commentators (Legler, Snapper Jones) also said that the Rockets NEED to make a trade. They said the team is good and that their PG situation is in big trouble and if we didnt make a move we could slip down below Memphis or even the Lakers or the Wolves. I agree. Our PG situation is dire right now! Hopefully the Webber deal and the impending Baron deal will loosen up these GMs to making some moves today. If we can move a "non rotational" player for a PG and not have to give up a 1st rounder then that would be golden! As far as I am concerned, these assets are what we would be willing to move: Taylor, Gaines, Barrett, 5M T.E. and MAYBE our 2006 1st rounder. The DA for Taylor deal makes a TON of sense. We swap garbage salaries but at least DA could be a "stop gap" PG for us until Sura comes back. In that deal we still keep our TE and 1st rounder.
