    we don't need payton.

We need someone who might last a little while. I say spring the kid from overseas and see what he's got.

Watching Rod Strickland is the most painful thing ever. And he's the starter. Our back-up is actually better although inexperienced. Look what Rod's "experience" is bringing to the team. If you can bring yourself to do so. I had a hard time, after last night, watching him play tonight.

We have to do something. I know that next year our options will open up a little, but we have to do something. Keep the first round pic though.

Hold local try-outs... couldn't be any worse then Strickland. It's the worst I've seen any Rocket starter play.

You'd think Geoff Petrie would know better too...

Sometimes when you are desperate, you make dumb decisions...

Good point, but only other realistic deals are anthony?( no chance) or K-Mart( no chance in hell again) so that leaves the nuggets no chips to play with.

Something to be gleaned from the Webber deal is where he was traded to. He went to an eastern conf team, probably complicates a deal if you are looking to trade within your conference. Maybe among other things that keeps the DA for MoT deal from happening. The smart money on this board doesn't want the 1st pick traded so I am not sure CD is considering trading the 1st pick for GP. So what possibilities are there in the Eastern conference?

Yeah I agree. I think Western conference teams won't deal with each other..unless you'rel ike the Hornets and Warriors. Or maybe like you have a 4th string point guard in demand. Like Derek Anderson or Antonio Daniels or Flip Murray or Damon Stoudamire and stuff. But yeah..in the East..all I see is Gary Payton. Eric Snow. I would love Jeff McInnis but he's a part of the Cavs..Jason Kidd?

I am currently in my 20s, and a legit 6 footer. I tried out for my college team once, and I beat my guy off dribble bunch of times, and only missed all my shots by an average of two inches...

I can run up and down the court and won't get winded within two minutes of the game. My defense is decent, one in every ten tries, I can probably keep Tony Parker in front of me...

I have a sick dribble, sometimes even makes my teammate sick... However, I won't turn over the ball once in every three possessions... I promise!

I can pass the ball pretty good, I once tried a behind-the-head pass to a guy downlow and it worked, although the guy didn't make the basket, so no assist... However, I do have the potential to be pretty good...

OK, here is my resume! Based on that, I think I am better than both Barrett and Strickland. I am willing to take the league's rookie minimum, and you can even lock me up with that for three years.

CD, if you are reading, email me. I promise I can do better than Barrett and Strickland!

Whoever it is, we can't afford to train him at this point in time. We need someone who can come in and immediately make a difference.

Haha, I actually got a vision of Marc Jackson coming off the set to be our savior. :p

After that Webber deal, is it too crazy to wish for Baron?... We shouldn't settle for a crap replacement, our goal should be a championship this year.

I don't know if this works cap wise. MoTay for Kurt Thomas and our number one pick to Boston for Payton. I believe this would be ideal for the Rockets. One can only hope.:)

We're not going to win a title this year and we don't have a max contract to move for Baron let alone the draft pick they are going to want.

We don't have any expiring contracts valuable enough to net us a great point guard. Even if we did, it is more than wishful thinking to believe we'll contend this year. Our goal should be to solidify our playoff position and continue to give Yao and T-Mac experience and surround them with solid role players for the future.

I wasn't really serious about the Baron Davis deal. I just think they should try and get a good player, a legit starter, not a Mike Wilks type player.

And I usually agree with the stuff you say Jeff, but I'm sorry, I couldn't disagree with you more about the Rockets chances this year. The last time I saw chemistry like the one we had during the streak was when we were a 6th seed and won the championship. With a healthy Sura, and the chemistry we displayed, I don't see why we couldn't win a championship this year. Had he not gotten hurt, we'd be sitting on a 10 game win streak and playing the best basketball in the league.

Again, you never know what the future holds. I know our future looks bright, but we can't take the luxury of solidifying our playoff position. I think that's a loser's mentality and we would be selling ourselves short if we did. Whenever I hear someone talk like this I always think of Seattle when they had a young Payton and Kemp. Everyone just assumed that they would go on to win championships, but we all know what happened to them.

If you can get Baron Davis on this team without moving TMac and Yao, then you have to do it. It's Baron freakin' Davis. One of the best players in the league.

Seriously can this be done? Can we buy out his contract midway through their season? Will the NBA rules allow that?

PS. We need two PGs. Andre Barret and Rod Strickland are minues. Maybe sending Barret to the IL and activating Ward might be the answer.

Common Milwaukee give us Mo Williams - you already have two solid PG in your system including T.J. Ford.

Once you commit a player to Europe, he stays for the entire year.

Seriously, I wouldn't want Baron. He is absolutely the wrong fit for this team. He's another combo guard that needs the ball in his hands to be effective. He doesn't shoot particularly well from the perimeter and he's not that great of a passer, which is the most important things we need out of our PG (that and the ability to get the ball across halfcourt, STRICKLAND  ).
