Considering that Collison's stats were comparable or better almost across the entire board, it's pretty hard to say that AB was a better player.
If Collison did it for an entire season like Brooks did, then I would agree with you. Let's see how he handles being THE MAN in Indiana, where teams can gameplan for him and his type of game. Brooks was THE GUY that other teams set out to stop all of last year..... Pretty impressive if you consider that. DD
Wrong. First, Rockets had a losing record without Lowry, a winning record with Lowry, so "AB led last year's team winning record" was pure BS. Even Morey said Lowry had the biggest impact to winning last season. 2nd, I'm a YOF, but my post is more about Yao's team, not Yao himself. Last time I checked, when Yao could play, Lowry was even worse at getting the ball to Yao than AB. But I still like Lowry more than AB because I think he fits the team better if everybody is healthy, assuming they make the same improvements during the offseason. That is good for Roekets team, not for Yao only.
Collison has a much higher ceiling than brooks. I'll take collison who just has all the court vision and passing ability of a true point guard. This forum obviously going to favor brooks. Should post this at like realgm or something and you'd get a more accurate assesment, i'd think.
First, there is more to being a good PG than putting the ball in the hoop. There are more ways to help out your team and a PG's job is to handle/guide the team offense and make people around him better, though this is slightly reduced in Rick's motion offense that he used in Sac. However, Rockets have barely even scratched the surface of that smooth offense the Kings of old used. Second, court vision is something you are born with or compensate for with years of experience, neither of which AB has. For a player that has great court vision, it is much more costly to double him up then to try to guard him one on one. AB cannot pass worth a damn so opposing teams have the luxury of doubling him up. If you try to double or triple up Collison, I am willing to bet he will pick the team apart with passes. It is a 5 on 5 game and when two players are on you, that means someone else is open and ready to score. I trust Collison will be able to find that open man. Can you honestly say the same about AB?
Collison has WAY better defense and passing ability than Brooks. He can also shoot the ball. So can Brooks. Collison is much better imo.
From watching some NOH games last year I'm not sure that I wouldn't send Paul instead of Collison in the deal..
Whats the fact that he was on tmac's bus got to do with anything?? I voted Brooks, but he is putting up a better argument for Collison than you are for Brooks right now...
No he's not, he is using a 20 game stretch, is there consideration for whom they played, how many home vs away games did they play? Whom did Collison go up against at the PG position? What was New Orleans record? Collison is a nice story, but Mike James had a good year too, let's see if Collison can do it for a year like Brooks did... DD
