It is interesting to see how people would rather have an un-proven talent like Alexander instead of a proven scorer in the Cat. It is a waste to have multiple players that play the same postion. It is also interesting how these some people rate the Clipps as having a better draft. They ended up with like 5 players which play basically the same position, SF & SG. I thought they already had Lamar Odoms as their SF. Other than Miles, they stunk as usual. Collier is a decent player and Rudy likes him, that is good enough for me. If we end up getting Croshere and then have extra picks in next years DEEP draft, would you consider this draft all that bad? Curb your emotions , and use your head. Let Rudy work his magic and build us another champion. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! In Rudy We Trust
Who keeps calling next years draft DEEP? Does anyone here know now which underclassmen are going to declare? If so please raise your hand now. Because otherwise, without underclassmen, its not a stacked draft and the Rox pick from the bucks should be around the 20thpick.
The consensus from he draft experts say that there could be as much as 20-30 players who are of NBA quality(in other words ,step right in and contribute). The experts equate it to the draft year that Dream, MJ, and Sir Charles came out. If you had 2 or 3 picks in the top 20, you could really rake it in talent wise and fill some serious needs, plus we will have a ton of cap space as well. ------------------ Houston Rockets Forever!! Francis3...."So who do we draft next year with the first pick? Rockets look like they have the worst team in the nba."..... Ummm, excuse me, exactly which league are you watching? Please explain to me how the Wizards, Celtics, Nuggets, or even the Clippers got better than us just because we took Collier? If we had ZERO picks in this draft, would we still be the worst team in the league? I fail to understand how Collier has brought us down to the bottom feeders of this league. What were you expecting, Francis3, that the number 9 pick was going to make us title contenders? I'm sure you are waaaayy too young to remember this, but I remember a third round pick by the name of Jim Peterson who came in and gave us the bench support we need to make it to the NBA finals in '86. He was slow and soft, but he fit in Bill Fitch's system, much like Collier will fit in Rudy's system. News flash Francis....That 86 team made to the finals in Akeem's second year in the league and Sampon's third, much like Francis and Mobeley could make it to the playoffs next year. Collier is not the deciding factor, but he just may provide something the system needs. Be careful hitting the ground as you jump off the bandwagon, Francis3. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Behad (edited June 29, 2000).]
I don't know about you, but my biggest day as a Rocket fan came in June of '94, and again in June of '95. ------------------
I don't think these picks are too bad. With what was left I think we did OK. Collier is a smart player, can shoot, rebound, and is 7 feet tall. He will definately help us next year. Calm down everyone. If you think for a minute, you will see a method in Rudy's madness. ------------------
What do you expect from a guy who came to this board with the handle Pippen33? ------------------ "Go to hell Costas"-Dave Nelson after sweeping the ABSCAs on NewsRadio visit www.swirve.com
Yeah, I remember that RM95, but I wasn't gonna mention it.....I didn't want to be THAT cruel. ------------------
Maybe the Rockets (Rudy) is storing up some draft picks so they can trade up or trade away for a good big man next year. They may have as much as 4 #1 picks to trade up with or trade to another team for somebody like Chris Weber. Next year we will have salary cap room (Dreams) and extra picks to trade. We did not have anything to trade up with that anybody wanted this year you cain't get something for nothing ( be nice though ). With Collier we should be able to run the pick and roll a lot better then we ever could with Bullard.
Thanx for the comments Kenny Smith. Maybe the clippers have finally realized that they should change or maybe not. We just have to see. But the team looks damn scary on paper. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Speaking of comments, did you here Barkley ripping the Clips last night? Calling them losers is nice compared to his rant. ------------------
Yeah that was great to see. I think the clippers management got mad so they started throwing up all the deals. Maybe Barkley changed the franchise of the clippers in just one night. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Wouldn't it be great to see CB go to the Clips as a coach? I'd pay just to watch him get on the refs. Gotta go, meeting is starting. ------------------
I ain't as dissapointed with the Rocket's selections as others. We went into this draft not expecting to get the low post player we wanted at No.9. So we settled for the best players to fit the Rockets system. Big guys who can shoot the jumper will open up lanes for Francis and Mobley. and with next years pick we can get a pretty good player. The draft could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse. A whole lot worse. On another note, Chuck gets some major points from me(like I matter) for ripping the Clippers and the things he said of Hakeem. ------------------ Its only my opinion. Feel free to disagree.
Good thing we didn't draft Kenyon Martin. We would have had to send the Shuttle up to bring Francis3 down ------------------
Ok since when was Drew a Diamond at this point he isnt even a precious gem hell I wouldn't even classify him as a natural resource, hes dirt bro, and you know it. He's third string on a mediocre team. An argument could be made that he could be classified under the wood category as he has so many splinters in his... well you know. Until we trade this pick for Croshere then I think its just as bad as all the Steve Patterson drafts. I have been wrong about picks before but I just have this gutt feeling that we got John Koncak(or however his name was spelled) or at the least Micheal Doleac. Hardly worth the #9 pick in this draft. Well I will believe it when I see it, if we do that trade then I would say it was a brilliant trade but not until then. Also to the people who say the Clippers and Denver will not be better than us then you are only kidding yourselves. Unless Antonio leaves Denver then they will be better than us. Also the Clippers have a very good chance on being better than us IF they get a good coach, they have ALWAYS had great talent but they never put forth the effort to properly develop the talent. Wizards are bar non the worst team in the league next year but after that it is a crap shoot. Vancouver is better, Dallas is better and quite possibly even the Clips. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
Evaluate this crap when training camp starts. Let's see if we can get a free agent in a sign and trade....anything. If we do nothing....I'll be pissed. On another note...Fizer a 3???? ------------------
The only thing I don't like about this draft is that the pick porobably won't be that good next year (even though the draft is supposed to be stronger). The Bucks play in the weak ass east, and will make the playoffs for sure. I just don't like the idea of getting a pick that's "protected". If the pick didn't have those conditions, then I would be all for the trade. ------------------
Pryzbilla although he is better then Collier he's not that much better that the Milwaukee Bucks would trade a unprotected pick in next years draft.
Hey guys, trust rudy. Hes pulled out other diamonds like drew, mobley, etc. Maybe collier casn be a productive center/pf. Also by the way francis3 the rockets did not waste the 9th pick because in my opinion i like the mil trade more than getting przybilla. Some analysts think we got fleeced in the deal but the truth is their wrong because przybilla isnt that much better than collier and we got a additional first round pick for next year. Przybilla=mcilvaine in the nba. I truly believe the rockets are preparing for the long haul as maybe even collier would be traded for croshere who we want-agreed? Also, it shows that resigning mobley is paramount and proabably will happen. so i ask are we better with przybilla or croshere + cap room + multiple picks in next years big man draft. I say option number 2. We will still make the playoffs as the 7th-8th seed i think and thus will be major players for webber next offseason(who i think we will get) and we will get a topflight big man in next years draft as we have our pick, mil pick and the possibly of orlandos pick and detroits pick. In fact i think the rockets had a good draft considering noone they wanted was on the board and they acquired a 1st round pick to next years deeper draft loaded with talented big men. ------------------
