I sure hope KU-UA keep the games rolling for years to come. It is a smart move for both of them (closest thing to simulating March Madness). Here is your bi-weekly Arizona update UA's next class is set barring strange happenings: Ebi, Shakur and Walters. Still don't know where Butch is heading but it isn't here. Also, UA supposedly has a junior in Houston comitted (for 2004?) named McClelland I think. Anybody heard of him? Lute is preparing a full court pressing defense for the first time. It is the only way he can get PT to 10-11 quality guys, the second 5 (Bynum, Adams,Igudala, Latimore, Fox) would probably be good enough for the middle of the pack in the Pac 10 (Rogers, the 11th man, is good too). Stoudemire has said soph Bynum (more in control), soph Latimore (lost weight, more explosive, just as strong) & Walton (adding range and consistency to his shot) have improved the most this offseason. If Walton can shoot as well in games this year as Stoudemire thinks he can we are talking 1st or 2nd team all-america for him. Also, Adams and Igudala (sp.) are supposed to be athletic freaks really impacting the practices--we will see if the senior Anderson remains a starter. Probably he will if nothing more than symbollic, but unless he is hot (he can shoot well for a 6'10" guy) count on one of the fresh swingmen or a 3 guard line up--Garner, Stoudemire (maybe the best pure shooter in the land), one of Bynum, Adams of Igudala, Walton and Frye--in the key moments. That's all.
Arizona is freaking stacked this year, and has a very good chance of being better than the 2001 team. The 2001 team had higher star power ie. Woods, Gardner, Jefferson, Wright and Arenas, but this squad is the deepest I've ever seen. Deeper than some of the Duke teams in recent years. On paper, they are hands down the best team in the nation. Let's see if Lute doesn't blow it in March.
