At the risk of relocating this thread to D&D, comments like this pi$$ me off.

Many of these small towns are being propped-up by the very cartels they claim to resent. You can't give the cartels safe haven, accept their money, cater to their whims all while denouncing them. This situation is one that the Mexican government and the Mexican people have gotten themselves into, and until/unless they're willing to do something about it, it's going to continue unabated.

Good for this girl for standing up to take the job. Shame on the rest of the community for not having the cajones to do it. As a Mexican-American, it sickens me.

Calvera would love these people.

I don't know why, but the jokes don't seem funny to me this time. Maybe I'm getting soft. Maybe its because we're seeing this before the fact. Good effort though girls.

Sure it's dangerous, but what is the murder ratio of former police chiefs in this town?

i dont think this is fair. in alot of ways, these people are being held hostage by the cartels - you either play ball/get on the take or they kill you and your family.

its very mafia-esque - the cartels are now branching out into extortion of local businesses - small business owners must pay "protection" money or they lose their business (and die).

and its not that they dont have the 'cajones' - how do you expect them to defend themselves? - mexico has strict anti-gun laws - unfortunately the cartels dont obey the laws. are they supposed to battle the cartels w/ machetes and rocks?

 

reality can be pretty sensational.

i dont know about this particular town, but police chiefs being murdered in northern mexico is unfortunately pretty common. they have knocked a few off immediately after being sworn in.

 

What a complete joke! At this rate, in another 10 years the pretense will be gone and Mexico be completely ungovernable.

I was thinking the same thing.

I hate to say it but from a political standpoint if she does get killed by the cartels she might become the martyr that Mexico needs to finally take it to the cartels. Its one thing to read about the cartels beheading a middled aged guy and another to behead a young pretty idealistic girl.

I hope it never comes to that..

I tried to stay away from this thread, but I couldn't.

It's just people not used to someone standing up to something WRONG [who are the ones] that are making these jokes. People who value this won't joke about it. People who have gone through something like what the people of Mexico are going through WON'T JOKE ABOUT IT. I, myself, will NOT joke about this. Sure, I've had my share of a few jokes, but not at the expense of one person, bravely standing up among a bunch of cowards, someone who deserves high praise.

 

Is it a fashion statement to wear a bra over clothes in Mexico?

If she ditched those funky ass glasses, let her hair down and learned how to dress she could be pretty hot.

 

IMO, if one of the cartels decides to take her out, no body will every be found. She will disappear without a trace.
