You know if enough people got together as rockets fans, we could order NBA league pass and all meet at a house or something to watch the rocks games....if we just had ten people commit it would be about 14 bucks a person for the whole season..not only that, but we would get a chance to meet some BCS rockets fans, and all watch the games together

I'd be interested in that.....but I had heard somewhere about NBA League Pass was a problem in getting.

Something has to give about the games being on Ch. 15.

Tomorrow is Monday, let's get people back in the Cox office asking them about this.....gotta stay on top of them.

Those morons at Cox do not offer NBA League Pass in the Bryan/College Station area. If anyone has DirecTV or Dish Network, then NBA League Pass would be an option. I really wish we had a choice in cable. Anything but Cox!!

Yeah Im not too big a fan of cox either. And they just signed a new 10 year contract with the city and a small price increase is on the way.

But about getting together, there's gotta be somewhere in town that can get the game. What would be really cool is if we could get someplace to host a Rockets viewing party type thing (I think I heard something a bout this a couple of years back). Even if they had to shell out for the league pass they might be willing to knowing they would have 20 to 30+ people coming in every game night.

A Rockets viewing party thing would be awesome!! Especially if there was a sports bar in town like the Tap or Fox & Hound that had NBA League Pass. We should look into that.

5 years ago Patagonia at Northgate used to have a bunch of TVs for sports until clubbing time. I think it doesn't exist anymore though.

Does anyone have DishNetwork or DirectTV and is willing to house a Rockets night? I'd do it, but my TV sucks and I have Cox cable and Cox sucks.

I'd pay $10-$20 to watch all the games.

    Agreed AgRocket, Clutchcity, and Kim,

Lets all designate a place to call, give them a good proposition for this (tell them they will have X amount of ppl coming in every night for this, in addition to their normal crowd), and someone will do this.

Im going to call Cox right now.

Still nothing. The call took me to the corporate office in Arkansas.
    Keep getting onto 'em Ags.

And lets get to the bars for at least NBA league pass or something. Going into the sixth game tomorrow, we need something resolved by at least the 10th game. I think that's a realistic goal.

I just wanted to say that I feel all of your agony. I've been in B/CS for 5 years now, and have had a hard time dealing with the lack of Rox games I've been able to view here over that span.

I say to hell with Cox! They've pissed me off one time too many with what games will and will not be shown, and that includes other sports as well, including college and NFL football and baseball. It's funny, that a metropolitan area only about 90 miles away from the massive metroplex that is Houston (College Station to the lay), containing thriving sports maniacs like us doesn't find a way to broadcast events that will most likely bring hundreds, if not thousands of viewers in this area. Anyways, I'll get off of my soapbox about Cocks Cable.

Whatever any of you decide to do about this, whether it's all putting in on League Pass somewhere, or petitioning the cable co., or braving the "dirty sock," I'm willing and able.

    RNuss,

I was totally with you until the "braving the dirty sock" part.
I just couldn't bring myself to go that low (don't think i don't like strip clubs either).

Here is what has to be going on. It's all up to the Rockets, I believe. There are the ones that will be making the money out of all this. The local ads for B/CS don't show on those games at all. Hell, sometimes I noticed that they just went to a blank screen during commercials here.

Cox has said many times that they are waiting on the Rockets. I don't know of any way to contact the Rockets about this. In another thread, Tim did comment on this, but only said they are waiting on Cox. So I don't know what the hell is going on.

    Apathy kills.

Remember the goal: by the 10th game of the year, we must have a solution. Let's get to work people. Keep up the calls, and keep posting any new news.

Since I brought it up - 'The Sock' has the games, but it's on a tv behind the bar (no volume), and only viewable from there. Obviously not the ideal spot for a group to watch the game, but untill we get something else, it still beats nothing. So, if anyone else wants to hang....

Has anyone spoke to the folks at Fox n Hound? Surely they could show the games. That would be ideal.

I'm all about going to a restaurant or a bar to watch the Rockets. We should all hassle the local bars, and I think that getting this resolved by the 10th game is very realisitic. As much as I love the Rockets, I don't think I could bring myself to going to the Dirty Sock. I will give Fox & Hound a call to see if they can help us out.

BTW: Are any of you up to getting together to watch the Rockets this Thursday? I'm sure the bars will show that game because it's on TNT. Maybe we can all get together at Fox & Hound, the Tap, Ozona, or somewhere else. Let me know if you are interested.

Does anyone know if 'Jeffster' is just the new super-hip version of our favourite mod?

Just curious. I thought maybe with the name change for the site ol Jeff did a rename as well.

I just got back from dinner at Bourbon St. Bar and Grill. That place is nice and the Monday Night Football crowd was pretty big...not packed, but good sized. I used to go there all the time when it was Loose Moose on Karaoke nights. There's a nice projector screen on the stage and the food is good in my opinion.

I found out that they have NFL league pass but not NBA. I'm going to go in on a weekday afternoon and ask what it'll take to get them to buy NBA league pass for the dish. I figure it'd be more expensive for a restaurant/bar to buy it than a private home.

Would y'all be interested in doing some deal where if we get enough people to put down $10 to $20 per person for this place to show all the Rockets games, and then we'd get like drink discounts or free apetizers with a meal or something. I really don't know what to expect, but these are some ideas I'm gonna present the manager there with, and tell him that I'm representing a group of Rockets fans that would like to see all the games.

Anyhow...just a suggestion. Keep up the good work Dttd.

Also, Chanster, I don't think Jeff is the Jeffster.

    Kim,

Good idea about Bourbon Street ( i live right next to it).
I can go with you if you want, but tell them just what you said.

We can get a good count from the people posting on the thread, plus others I know about, and find out how much of a pool of money we could come up with. I'm sure if we paid at least 50% of the tab for NBA league pass, they would jump at it. They could even advertise (in-house) that they now have it, and the Rockets will be shown with regularity. That way all those not on here will know this too, and the response would be very profitable for them.

And while we're at it, we definitly have to ask them about a special drink price for those that do throw down. Their average customer base will expand on game nights, so the least they could do is hook us 10-12 people up.

Sounds like the ideal business proposition for both sides.

Let's do this for Bourbon Street and others as well.

I guess the first order of business for this is:

We need an estimate of those that really would pay around $10 to go towards helping a bar obtain NBA League Pass.

I sure as hell would throw $10 to be able to see any and all games. Especially if they offer those that throw, a drink special (and that isn't unrealistic). I'm in a business fraternity, and you'd be surprised how easy it is to scratch each other's back when it comes to organizatoins. Just got to give them the right proposition.

    I feel that SWTsig....
One thing Cox did say was, "The Rockets will have priority over the Spurs and Mavs everytime."
