Sounds like someone tried to do someone else's work for them or showed up to lab acting like them...i've seen it done before when i took some labs at the same campus...i guess i can see how it would be frustrating, since you're dealing with the wrong person at times, but definitely not the way to go about resolving this.

 

What's really crazy is that there's apparently a UH science lab with only two Asians in it!

 

Let us know what happens.

I think because a sane racist jackass will have a realistic expectation of how his racist jackassery will be received by others. That's why racist jackasses will do things to hide, disguise, rationalize, or justify their racism. From this guy's letter, it seems like he had no inkling that this email would invite the school to bring down the hammer on him. He might be incredibly stupid in addition to being a racist and a jackass, but I think it's more likely that something isn't connecting properly in his brain and he has fantastical expectations of how others will react.

I had a good friend who developed schizophrenia around 20 and made a big scene at (yup) U of H that got him barred from campus. It was pretty heart-wrenching to watch him fall apart. But, there were many episodes of strange behavior before everyone was willing to accept he needed psychological help. I thought of him while I was reading the first letter.

So, I think it's worthwhile to at least get this kid evaluated. Keep him off-campus for everyone's safety, and make sure his health is attended to.

Anyways seems like this guy was having problems with Asian people who uses their American name when introducing themselves.
