no doubt, is Ferentz on the hot seat this year? i think i heard some media types saying that before the season.
Hanson is supposedly redshirting this season on request by his family. Apparently he played mop up duty last season and they weren't too happy they burned his rs. I also thought Scott started. Being a Longhorn, I'm all to familiar with the recruiting battle over him. Not sure if it is the offense, but he hasn't looked all the impressive from what I've seen.
His contract was extended through 2015. Iowa loves long-term coaches. Iowa lost their RB Jewel Hampton for the season before the first snap. He was Shonn Green's BU last year. We've had 3 different guys, none experienced enough, so far in the first two games. With our OT Bulaga out for who knows how long with a mystery illness, the offense is a total mish-mash outside of Stanzi. D will keep us in games and Iowa always gets stronger as the season goes on. Cannonball is correct. UNI is a great team, they lost a heartbreaker last year to Richmond, and were totally prepared for the Hawkeyes. They have a great basketball program as well. 7-3 Iowa - we just scored!
Colorado really does suck. Maybe Hawkins is confused about intramurals. How much longer will he last?
Same thing happened to Scotty McNight (WR) against Colorado State. The guy was stumbling off the field, looking like he was not even able to see. They put him back in for some unknown reason and 5 passes were thrown his way. All of them bounced off his chest or head. For the most sure handed player on the team, he seemed to have no idea where he was or what he was doing. Scott is 3rd string right now behind starter Demetrius Sumler (thew worst of the 3 backs) and Rodney Stewart. Stewart and Scott complement eachother well. The problem with Scott is that he only gets about 1 rushing attempt per game and every time he touches the ball, it is LITERALLY the same up the middle play and it is stuffed immediately. Last season Hanson (backup qb) was getting Scott the ball in the open field and he could make plays. Like I said, if they don't win their next game against Wyoming, they will not win a game this season
What exactly happened in that game - I couldn't find any explanation that made sense? How does a team get a 2nd chance after a blocked field goal? Isn't it automatic change of possession even if it's on 3rd down if the ball actually is kicked (as opposed to the snap being fumbled or whatnot)?
:07 on the clock. Score Iowa 17 UNI 16. 1st Down. UNI kicker Billy Hallgren attempts a 40 yard FG which is blocked by Iowa behind the line of scrimmage. Ball does not cross line of scrimmage - it shoots sideways and backwards. Iowa players are around the ball but confusion between the players makes them let it roll to let the clock run out. Jeremiha Hunter was the Iowa player who should have dropped on the ball. UNI player Ryan Mahaffey dives on the ball. :01 left on the clock. Referees conference for a long time. Because the ball did not cross the line and was recovered by a UNI player, it's treated like a fumble recovery. 2nd down. Hallgren attempts a 41 yard FG which is blocked by Iowa's Jeremiha Hunter. Ball does crosses line of scrimmage, Iowa falls on it. Game over. Total time for the :07 to play out with refs deciding what to do - 10 minutes Did that make sense?
This Fresno St.-Wisconsin game has been pretty damned good. The Badgers are up 31-24 in OT with Fresno St. trying to tie it.
Man, Texas is struggling on offense, part of it is due to Wyoming doing a good job. Colt is struggling a bit. Meanwhile, liking the Coogs score so far....
