Stafford is bangiing hot chicks on a $48 million money pile and laughing. Jajajaja!!!! Karma is real.
But if you're texas, don't you want Oklahoma undefeated and ranked high when you play them in Dallas? It would help Texas out.
After last year I've learned never to root for OU no matter what the circumstance. I revel in this loss.
With our schedule, the Horns have to go undefeated to make it to the championship game anyway. A one loss Texas team will not get the votes, nor have the strength of schedule, to make it in. We're number two now, so technically if we win out, no matter everyone else's record, we should be fine. Therefore, I am ecstatic at OU's loss.
Agreed. Texas has just a few games on the schedule this year that are scary. OU is one of them...now that one looks not as scary. The goal for the Horns should be to win out....especially after the lesson learned last year about being the odd man out among teams with one loss.
Agree with you. It's short-sighted for UT fans to like this OU loss. I can understand why they instinctively want OU to lose, but this actually hurts UT's chances of making the BCS championship game.
USC, maybe. But BYU has a weaker schedule than UT. They won't be leapfrogging us if we win out. Even USC is in the mediocre PAC-10 -- their SOS will depend heavily on how Notre Dame and Ohio State turn out. Even with this loss, I would put Oklahoma to finish ahead of at least one of those teams, and Okie State to finish ahead of both.
I don't think it's going to have a huge impact either way...but if it's a sign that the OU game might not be as tough a matchup as we thought before, I'd say that's good news.
Had this conversation lastnight, I honestly think that Texas will be in the NCG should we win out. Ohio State did not look good yesterday and I can see them dropping another game besides USC. Both OU (assuming Bradford comes back relatively soon) and Ok St. will likely be ranked higher than Cal and Notre Dame.
If TCU and Utah go on to have top 20 finishes... you never know who else could lose or win. Bottom line is, this loss hurt UT.
The impact doesn't need to be huge, just enough to slide USC in front of them when it counts at the end. I have to agree that even if OU beat BYU, UT fans have to feel good about winning October 17th.
I don't buy it. The tiebreaker angle in the Big XII south happening again seems more likely than some weaker conference champion beating us out in a tiebreaker. USC was hurt more, I believe, by Oregon's loss. There are so few decent teams in the Pac-10 that they need those guys to live up to their preseason ranking. Ohio State looks like they're overrated (again), and the rest of their schedule with the exception of Cal looks like a bunch of creampuffs. Meanwhile Texas (should they win out) gets a OU team that will still be highly ranked and a very good looking Ok State squad, plus whoever they draw in the conference championship game. And a team like BYU isn't going to get the national respect enough to make the championship game, even if they win out. Look at the history of the mid majors, they just don't get there. It may not be fair, but that's reality.
Sorry, but you can't rationalize that any of UT's opponents losing does anything but hurt them. College football doesn't work that way. After what happened to UT getting screwed out of the title game last year, I can't believe anybody is trying to beat this drum. Especially with it being WEEK ONE of the season, where we basically don't know s*** about who is going to do what. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt I guess.
As a VT fan I am so sick of this crap every damn year. EVERY DAMN YEAR IT'S THE OFFENSE! The Problem is our OC Brian Stinespring. Every big game this guy fails us. Our defense played bad last night but that was mainly because they were on field way too long. Memo to Brian Stinespring when a team decides they are going to blitz you on every 3rd down CALL SOME DAMN SCREEN PLAYS TO THE RB. GET THE TIGHT END INVOLVED IN THE GAME! This is why I never get excited about the hype of VaTech because we don't have the offense to compete with big time teams. Beamer get the rod out of your ass and get rid of Stinespring. We are never going to be a team taken serious with this offensive gameplan every game. It is too damn predictable.
And people stop saying the Oklahoma loss is bad for UT. Sure they would rather play Oklahoma when the Sooners are undefeated, but if Texas goes undefeated they are going to be in the NC game. Point, blank, period.
It hurts Texas in lots-of-1-loss teams scenario, but not in an undefeated scenario. And the Missou, OkieState, and Baylor wins helped Texas more than the OU loss will hurt Texas. Realistically, due to a combination of last year's fiasco and the general consensus that the B12 and SEC are the two best conferences in the country, it would be virtually impossible for any other undefeated team to jump an undefeated from those conferences. USC would be the only team that has any kind of shot, really.
