I am lil curious about the USC @ Cal due to QB play by Kessler & Goff. I am also interested in Stanford/Wazzou.
Often times in college football, it's those weeks that look pretty weak that end up giving us some of the craziest games, but so far, today's games haven't really provided a signature moment. Here's hoping that means that we're in for a bunch of great finishes to the night games going on now.
Michigan/Minnesota is coming down to the wire on ESPN. Michigan just scored a touchdown to go up with about five minutes left. I would really like to see Minnesota win this one for Jerry Kill.
I'm currently flipping frantically between Duke/Miami and Michigan/Minnesota. The Gophers just got a go-ahead TD with less than a minute remaining that might actually be spotted at the one-yard line after review. Then, meanwhile, in Durham, Miami had three, count 'em, three pass interference penalties on a drive that ended with a Duke go-ahead TD with less than ten seconds left.
Wow...rather than kick a FG to tie the game at 29, Minnesota ran a QB sneak at the one with two seconds left and didn't get it. Gotta admire the guts; I'm a huge fan of going for it when you're that close, but if I'm Minnesota, I would have liked my chances in OT given how well their defense has played all night.
I don't know what Minnesota was doing those last two plays. And they let all that time run down. Just bad. Why not go for the tie?
I can at least defend the choice to go for the TD there. Leidner handles the ball well, Minnesota was riding a wave of emotion, the interim coach is looking to make his mark and show that he believes in his guys, etc. But the time wasted before the previous play is completely indefensible. It's one thing to wait an extra beat to make sure everyone is set; it's another thing altogether to completely shift everyone around before the snap.
The refs was making his announcement the plays stands, then he changes his mind and says it's still under review.
WOW...I assumed Duke had that game won and flipped away from it. I only went back because of this thread. Now I'm mad I missed it live.
