Even when Georgia has a good team, they haven't done much against Florida. You had the big end zone celebration but that has been about it, lol. Needless to say as a Georgia fan, I am not even bothering watching the game.
AND Tennessee... at the swamp. you could make a case for bammer being ahead of Texas no doubt, but not Florida thus far. they have looked VERY beatable against pretty average teams. that being said, i personally think Texas would work over bama head to head. they may be the best 2 defensive teams in the country, but Texas' offense is light years ahead of bama's, particularly in terms of homerun, gamebreaking play potential. i'm more concerned with florida, as they still havea more balanced attack (at least the potential is there offensively).
Ugh, not this again.....I mean seriously.....there is no clear cut consistency....none...nada zilch. Average points for Florida = 35.28 Average points against FL = 10.14 Average Margin of victory = 25.14 Average points for AlaBama = 31.75 Average points against Ala = 11.38 Average Margin of victory = 20.37 Average points for Texas = 41.86 Average points against UT = 13.57 Average Margin of victory = 28.29 Texas has the number 1 rushing defense and the number 1 scoring offense in all of college football...yet they are the ones inconsistent.....LOL. DD
DaDa.... what did I say about those stats... this isn't basketball, this isn't the NBA... btw.. I'm a die-hard Longhorns fan.
you can't make comparisons like that. I would only really consider it if both teams were in the same conference. Once again look at the teams Texas played and look at the teams Alabama played.
Another way to look at it this (courtesy of Hornfans): 1. UT averaging holding opponents 143 yards below their offensive average 2. Averaging holding opponents 13.7 points below season average 3. Every opponent has been held below their average points and yards Unfortunately, I don't have similar stats for UT's offense or FLA/ALA.
This, I agree with.... this is legit. These stats are the stats that can prove why UT has the best defense in the nation.
I see just about the same for all....I don't sup from the SEC crank like the national media, and all the people who drink down what they are serving. DD
Sh**** f***** the NCAA up the aZz. They can go sleep with their money they greedily derive off the student athletes they supposedly care about. f**** them. They can go back to kissing USC and Pete Carroll's goody too-shoo azz.
What about the fact that Florida and Alabama have only played two non-automatic qualifying conference schools thus far, while UT has played three? Might that skew the statistics a bit, especially when one of Alabama's non conference foes was Virginia Tech at a neutral site?
On the flipside, Florida has played a I-AA team while Texas and Alabama haven't. You could go back and forth on this forever if you're trying to prove which team is better by stats.
Even as a UT fan, I agree. This is pretty crappy.... USC gets away with murder in the Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo sagas, (although it's unknown what role the coaches and universities played, if any) and Dez loses the rest of his year due to Deion Sanders communicating with him and Dez freaking out about it. Well, no excuses now, Horns. Let's go win out and head back to Pasadena!
Well, the SEC has had the last three national championships and it is the best conference in the league.
Right now there is some doubt because the computers are completely in love with Iowa. They are ranked #1 in 5 of the 6 computers (UT ranked 5th), with the human polls keeping UT above them for now (UT is #3 in both human polls, Iowa is #8). IF Iowa wins out, this would include a significant road victory @ Ohio St, which would surely jump them up in the human polls to at least #5. In addition, they need Arizona to win as many games as possible, since Iowa's win over them is one of the reasons the computers love them. UT winning out would include a road victory over OSU (#14), and KU (probably ranked in the top 35), along with the Big 12 North champion, so the computer deficit would shrink. I believe the humans will keep UT ranked over Iowa if both teams win out, so I think Texas will have the slight edge.
The thing is Iowa is number 1 in the computers right now. As in they cannot get any higher in that regard. Also, their last game is sometime mid November. Even if (big IF) they jump Texas before that game, Texas will have a primetime Thanksgiving night game against A&M and a (hopefully) Big XII Championship game to impress voters while Iowa is sitting at home. It sucks for Iowa, and I would be absolutely pissed if I were a fan of theirs, but I just don't see realistically them passing Texas if both are undefeated. Fair or not, voters will also be remembering what happened to Texas last year, and the fact that the Texas's fanbase ($$$$) is much larger than Iowa.
Exactly. People look at final scores and forget that teams often score points from places other than their offense. I can't imagine Alabama mustering enough points to beat TX if they played today. That might change.
