Iowa State earned it really.... they played hard. Sure as hell wasn't the same Iowa State that played against OU last week.
Agreed ... the defense is decent enough, but as long as Gilbert is under center it won't matter. He just isn't a very good quarterback and opportunistic defenses will feast on him. Perhaps he'll get better after a year of experience, but right now, he isn't making good reads and most of his throws except for the last touchdown drive are rather tentative. He also doesn't seem to have good pocket awareness and doesn't make good use of his feet except when he's scrambling, which is why he's turning the ball over even though his offensive line is doing a good job in pass protection. But back to the defense -- even though they are decent, they've got to be better. Iowa State's O-line was constantly creating massive holes for Robinson to run through right up the middle. I thought ISU was being somewhat conservative with their playcalling -- there were times when it was obvious Texas was coming with a blitz and a simple screen pass would have gotten them an easy first down. More creative offenses with the ability to create movement upfront can do better against Texas if they continue to play like this.
Auburn INT. Unfortunate for the luckymen... lol. I got myself down for +18 AF against TCU. Hope AF can cover.
They started out pretty good, then Jefferson f'd it all up and then all the momentum went back to Auburn. Cam Newton showing us all why he's a Heisman candidate.
Cam Newton vs. Jordan Jefferson. Hmmm. LSU has it's work cut out. They need to win the turnover battle and have a big special teams advantage to have a chance.
just got back from the UT game. I haven't been following UT football that closely this year, but Gilbert just looked awful out there. It got to the point where I was expecting an INT or at least a Cyclone to make a play on the ball every time he made a forward pass. Overall, both the team and the crowd just seemed flat and kinda uninterested until the last 7 minutes or so.
He's been awful the entire year. I think he has 5 TDs for the season.. which is terrible. Just a disappointment thus far... I'm all for trying out Case in the next game.
I know you think it can't get any worse, but unless Case has made giant strides since preseaon it would be much worse with him in there. We're going to have to stick it out with Gilbert in there. I almost feel bad for him though, he makes plenty of nice passes that good receivers should catch. Watching other offenses across the country is a reminder that receivers routinely make catches that aren't easy. Malcolm's catch today was maybe one of the only times this season I can remember one of our receivers bringing in a ball that they weren't expected to catch. What a mess.
