i wish we were having a down year. we're having a "how many people need to be fired" year. and geez, only OU could fumble a kick-off and turn it into an 80 yard return that gives them life right as they are on the ropes (missouri probably still thinks they're going to win this game). UT would have kicked it into the endzone and let the other team fall on it for a TD.
did missouri just throw a pass with 2:46 left, up 9 on 3rd and 2? how can something that stupid actually be called? edit: did oklahoma just punt down 9 with 2:17 left? how can something that stupid be called?
The last 3 weeks of college football have been great! Three consecutive #1 teams go down and I wanted all of them to lose. But I want Oregon to beat USC next week. Missouri can't relax with Nebraska next week and Michigan State goes on the road to play Iowa. For me, this college football season has been more enjoyable than usual.
You may remember them - I believe that's the team that crushed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl a few years ago.
Yeah....I remember. We were deflated after losing to Florida. ..... Whatever though...Alabama will be in the National Championship if they win out.
The announcer said it best that game: "Utah is playing in the sugar bowl and Alabama is playing in the BCS Championship game"
I agree with you on this. Honestly, it's more on me because I got in this debate in a college football thread, so I can respect where people were confused. I do appreciate you taking the time to understand my perspective though.
From everything I have seen this season... Oregon is the best team.. I know Auburn beat LSU today.. but IMO LSU isn't that good... they barely beat Tennessee (a team that Oregon destroyed) who has a few losses already.. and that was on a last second bonehead penalty.. I think Bama will end up beating Auburn in the Iron Bowl... I guess people can argue that Oregon has had a cupcake schedule thus far.. but they haven't had any close games... they have literally obliterated the opposition.. the closest game was still a 11 point game... Oregon is hands down the best team in college football right now and I don't think anyone will be able to stop them this year..
No whining please. It's not the fault of TCU that the big football power schools decided to create super conferences, kicking schools like TCU to the curb.
I don't think the "deflated" excuse really holds up. Those players had never played in a BCS game before. It was Alabama's first top-5 ranking in forever, and their biggest bowl game in at least a decade. They were playing a top 5 undefeated team. They had a month to get over losing to Florida. If they couldn't get up for that, that's a problem with the coaches and the players. Utah was simply a better team than people gave it credit for and it out-schemed and out-played the big BCS conference team, as these teams (TCU, Boise, Utah) seem prone to do. To Alabama's credit, they learned from that experience and got better and didn't take anyone for granted the next year.
Major, did you hear any of Mack's comments after the game? I've never, ever heard him call out Greg Davis like he did. I was pleasantly surprised. I'd imagine there's an audio/video link on their site.
I heard about them, but I didn't hear them directly. It makes me very happy - apparently, he was pissed across the board and called out some players too (not by name, but calling out specific plays). My guess is if UT loses 4 or 5 games (and I can't remotely imagine us winning out), Greg Davis is finally done. He'll conveniently "retire" at the end of the season.
