In your opinion.... we go by what the rankings are though... it doesn't matter who YOU think is overrated... it's what's there.
I am not saying they should have lost, I am saying they played like crap and are not as good as people are saying they are...and for that matter neither is Florida. The entire ESPN nation is busy pumping the SEC....in a down year for the SEC....... Let me ask you a question, why is it they are playing "GOOD DEFENSE" is the SEC, and not that they are playing "CRAP OFFENSE" in the SEC? DD
Seriously, SERIOUSLY? I mean you are going by what people vote as an indicator of which teams are any good? And all 3 teams have HORRID opponents on there.....cream puffs.....Texas has been the most balanced this year. USC was up there in the polls, OK was up there in the polls, Miami was up there in the polls. Rank....is about as imperfect a science as you can get, and the SEC is a prime example..having Florida and Alabama number 1 and 2 is silly. Neither of those teams is all that great.....Texas is better......but again, it is my opinion. And way to ignore my blowing up of your post completely..... BLOWN UP SIR !!!!! DD
oh well why the eff are we arguing about this. UF/Ala are going knock one out and UT will go undefeated so we shall see in the BCS game.
THATS WHAT I SAID. Who cares who has bragging rights now? Texas can be the best now... and then if they get their sacks handed to them by Bama/FL in the BCS game.... it'll all be thrown out... and FL/Alabama will have the last laugh.
Look they dropped UT in ranks because apparently the team did not win by enough. Let's see the voters do that to Florida and Alabama since they are both stinking it up at home. Average points for Florida = 35.28 Average points against FL = 10.14 Average Margin of victory = 25.14 Average points for Alabama = 31.75 Average points against Ala = 11.38 Average Margin of victory = 20.37 Average points for Texas = 41.86 Average points against UT = 13.57 Average Margin of victory = 28.29 Texas is the number 1 scoring offense in the country, and has the number 1 defense against the rush...yet...they are inconsistent. RIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHHHHHTTTTTT. DD
You don't have any argument, you said the other teams were more consistent. You posted their schedules as an example of their consistency. I blew your argument to smitherines. You want to agree to disagree.....???? Fine..... Me, I think you never made a single point.... The only thing we agree on is that all 3 control their own destiny...... Now....you may call people homers...because you have no actual point, or data.....but don't run and cower when you can't back up what you say... Back it up tough guy....let's see your Florida and Alabama consistency argument..... DD
Because most of you didn't see it. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7p9xT-7-UkU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7p9xT-7-UkU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
If all the teams played 3 weeks ago, Texas would probably have lost to UF/ALA. If they played last week, all the games may have ended 0-0. If they played today, Texas would probably have beaten both of them. All three teams are very close - each has a fantastic defense. Alabama and Florida can't really throw. Alabama has a Heisman caliber running back. Florida has a great running game built on a quartet of great running options. Texas hasn't shown much ability to run, but has a Heisman caliber QB and great passing attack. Who knows how well each team will be playing in January, but all three are pretty much interchangable right now. If they all play their best, I think Texas has the most potential to be balanced and good-to-great in each phase of the game. But chances are, all of them won't be playing their best at any given time.
You're thrashing everything away... rankings of opponents don't matter to you apparently. That's how it works in College football.... that's how it will be at the end of the day. I'm basing my opinion also on what I'VE saw with all 3 teams in the games... not just stats... not just final scores... I feel Texas isn't at the top YET. I do say that it should be closer though... http://espn.go.com/college-football/bcs 1 Florida .9886 2 Alabama .9526 3 Texas .8911 That's from last week... that should be closer in tomorrow's rankings.
They really helped themselves today with the dominant win and Clemson beating Miami. They should really close on Boise in the polls and the computers over the coming weeks.
I really think Florida is the weakest of the three teams at this point. Florida will get the benefit of the doubt in the polls for the rest of the season because they are defending national champs. Arguing over #1 is pretty dumb when #1 = #2 at the end of the regular season.
The point is they dropped Texas for what they considered lackluster play, let's see them do that to Florida and Alabama. If it is about the body of work, Texas wins...should be number 1. No debate, and I am still waiting on you to back up yours...so far....nothing..... Nada.....not one point......please.....show the world and the BBS how Alabama and Florida have been more consistent. Normally I agree, but I think it was wack that Texas got dropped for a double digit win. I want to see the SEC get the same treatment....that conference is as overated as they all are.....it is like listening to ESPN spout on and on about the Yankees and Red Sox..... No one is head and shoulders above anyone else this year in college football....and the SEC is no better than about 2 or 3 other conferences... DD
Sweet...I got someone to stop arguing about Texas vs. the SEC. We should be ranked above Boise...especially considering we beat them in the bowl game last season. However, I'm just happy about dominating a probably overrated BYU team. Would love to get a sniff at a BCS team if (and a big IF) we win out
Well... your point margin **** doesn't work... because you CAN'T compare it that way without taking each opponents rank at the time of the game when it was played... That's your only proof... which can't be used.
Still waiting on your "So called" proof that Alabama and Florida have been more consistent. or....or...you were just making it all up, and now have to acknowledge that it was just a malinformed opinion of yours too. DD
