Texas looking really smooth on both ends... Best Defense in the country... The offense has been clicking on all cylinders.
OU is currently ranked #25 in the AP (#26 in the Coaches poll). I was wrong about the 3 B12 ranked teams losing, though. I thought Nebraska was ranked, but they aren't.
I don't believe for one minute Mississippi State will win the game (because of Florida's defense), but that play was spectacular! Tebow's gotta have better judgment than that. Kicking another FG wouldn't have been the end of the world.
Agreed - he seems to be the ideal college QB, but his skills don't seem ideal for the NFL. Also of note, the Texas offense is finally performing up to expectations. If they really figured it out, that's going to be a great sign going forward.
Who does? From the little I've read on the subject, nobody gives him much of a chance at QB. I feel the same way about Colt McCoy.
Well... I think the OU game really opened up Colt to run more.. and he's more mobile now around the pocket and getting out of it now more than he ever was. That and also I guess he said he feels so much better from being sick over the last few weeks.... Though yeah... it's finally good to see. Just gotta see if they can stay consistent now.
As I recall, John McClain has a bet with Matt Jackson that Tebow is going to be a Top 5 pick. I think Jacksonville would take him, if only to put some asses in the seats.... but I don't think he's even close to being NFL caliber.
No kidding. Florida could've basically put the game out of reach if they were able to punch it in, but they go 5-wide against a team that has been blitzing all night? Especially with Tebow already making some questionable plays in the pass game? There are two big problems with this Florida team that are uncharacteristic of previous Meyer teams: red zone offense and turnover margin. The Gators are far under performing in both those aspects. Luckily, their defense is arguably the best in the nation.
I'm starting to think that the vast majority of the best NFL QB's are the good QBs from the middle tier college schools. I think the QB's at OU, TX, USC, etc have such a talent advantage, they never have to learn to throw to small spaces, never have to deal with power pass rushes, etc. It makes me think both Colt and Bradford are going to have NFL problems (at least early on). Vince has his own issues, but a guy like Matt Leinart or even Brady Quinn just had superior talent around them in college, making the game easier. Guys like Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan had to play against equal talent, and it probably better prepares them for the NFL.
It holds true for most every program that wins the National Championship. I think the best QBs usually carry their teams to success. Thats why you see programs like Miami of Ohio that were only relevant due to having Ben Roethlisberger there making plays nobody else could, etc.
Texas kinda let up on their D on this Mizzou drive which enabled them to score... too many open lanes to run for Mizzou... Props to them.
They computers have OU way way low. As low as 54th. It'll be a while before they show up in the top 25 again.
If I was an NFL gm looking for a qb, and my choices were Teebow, Colt Mccoy or Sam Bradford, I take Bradford in a heart beat (provided he's injury free) Hell I'd take Casey Keenum over Teebow and McCoy
Doesn't really matter where the computers rank OU. The computers in the BCS are only relevant to 25th place. 26th place and 100th place both get 0 points. OU will be around #20 in the polls this week, which will basically guarantee they'll be in the top 25 in the BCS tomorrow.
