Props to OU's defense. How much more could they do and it's only 6-3. If UT is really deserving of being a national champion, they will make a statement in the 2nd half and take control of this game.
People are saying that this is basically like the other games where Texas has had slow starts on offense in the first half... but this game isn't remotely similar. McCoy is playing his worst game of I don't know how long... possibly his freshman year... this OU defense is scary... 59 yards for McCoy... 59.... Bradford had 77.... It's not a fair comparison, but still sad.
Man, all D, fumbles, punts, and field goals, plus DD in full "annoying as hell" mode driving folks crazy. Worst half ever. lol
He's done for with that achievement... IMO... this first half combined with all of his other games just proved he's not a Heisman winner.... even if he rebounds for the rest of the season. You can't play half a season and expect to win that accolade... (sort of like last year).
Great defense by OU, they've taken away the middle from Texas all game, forcing them to the sidelines. Great defensive strategery.
True, I mean OU's defense is stellar today, this is what he can expect in the NFL. even more fierce. UT caught a break with Sam being injured they had a chance to capatalize, as have OU with these missed opportunities in the red zone.
i know ou has had their problems, but that was the biggest cluster**** of football texas has played in about 5 years. that made the first half against tech last year look like the greatest game ever played. we've started inside the 50 about 9 million times and seemingly have gone backwards or fumbled all 9 times. we let a guy free to blindside colt and force a fumble at about the 40. colt has a run down to the 7 and for some reason keeps fighting and doesn't secure the ball and of course fumbles just before he hits the ground and ou gets it. ou fumbles it into the damn endzone with 5 UT players to get it and the ou player miraculously recovers it at the 1 while being tackled. without the colt fumble it's tied, with a UT recovery on the next play, we're winning. our o-line can't block or stop getting false starts to lose yards EVERY ****ING SERIES. we've taken massive sacks, almost thrown about 4 pick 6's, headbutted guys after plays, and even when we could have gotten the ball at the 50 before the half, our most sure-handed player, shipley, ****ing drops the ball and loses 10 yards and those 10 would have put us in field goal range. and hell, if not for the fact you can't advance a muff, we would've turned a sure TD into a touchback because another dumbass player got stripped at the 1 yard line. seemingly every time ou tries to hand us the game, some bizarre-ass play happens that sets us back. it's incredible. also incredible we're only down 6-3. we should just punt on 1st down and pray out D or ST score a touchdown at some point.
Very doubtful the TOs continue like that. IMO, UT must put together a couple of touchdown drives and their O-line has to quit playing like sissies. 99 total yards in the 1st half and 1/8 on 3rd down is pathetic. Colt McCoy is lucky he didn't throw a pick-6 on two occassions. OU sure looks like the better team and, so far, their defense OWNS UT's offense. I said last week it would be no surprise if OU wins, but I didn't expect them to make UT look so bad.
Texas has the ball to start this half... they HAVE to come up with points here... they gotta have the momentum here to start, or this game won't be theirs to win.
i did. our offense has been in full 2000-2004 mode the last few games and ou feasted on those O's and ou has a good defense this year. i didn't expect essentially everything to go wrong on top of the O struggling like i expected, but it fits in with the 5 game losing streak motif. we could be in for another 5 year losing streak as ou seems to be back in our heads.
I'm not sure about that. If they are physically superior to OU, they could wear them down and make a move in the 4th quarter. Remember it's only 6-3. Problem is, it seems that OU is just as likely to wear UT down and dominate in the 4th quarter.
