I said that? The preseason in general does matter.. We started out ranked at least in the top 5, TCU didn't.
There shouldn't be an argument. I am a TCU alum and a huge fan, and while our defense (IMHO) could certainly contain Texas, I think that their defense would crush our offense. Perfectly happy having UT ahead of us...plus they crushed Baylor anyway. Just want to win this game...if we lose to Utah we were overrated...but this is the best TCU team I have seen, and I was in college during the LT years Go Frogs!
damn, did UT's backups have money on this game or something? i know it doesn't really matter but all 3 phases turn what could have been a dominating shutout into a run of the mill 47-14 win. special teams kicking it out of bounds and not covering a punt, the receivers staunchly refusing to catch anything that hits them right in the hands, and the backup D just flat out embarrassing itself and not only giving up the shutout but managing to give up 2 straight TD's and a bunch of yards. at least pretend you have some pride, guys.
Can Texas win out and still not play in the BCS championship? I know little to nothing about college football.
Sure it is possible in any given year, but with the way things have played out this season if Texans wins out they will be in the national championship game. If everyone wins out, Texas will meet the winner of the Alabama vs Florida game.
If Cincinnati and TCU win out, there is a slight chance one of them will finish in front of UT in the BCS rankings. Not very likely though.
Stop being such a homer... Gamecocks actually doing something against FL.... hopefully they can keep it close and try to get some miracle scores in the 2nd half.
No not you, but I remember someone in another thread arguing preseason rankings don't matter and that in the end it works itself out.
does anyone else think the whole urban myer thing insulting the refs n getting fined staged so people may think SEC officials are actually fair? Theyre clearly not
It's true. There is no Harris pre-season poll. It doesn't come out until week 7 or 8, I believe. And it tends to end up looking fairly similar to the other one. You see teams jump all the time over other teams when they deserve it. Alabama went from preseason unranked to #1 midseason last year (above undefeateds like Texas Tech). While there's no preseason poll bias, there IS a conference and name bias (thus the Alabama thing and teams like Notre Dame, OU, and USC getting the benefit of the doubt). For that reason, preseason poll or not, TCU was never going to be ranked above Texas if both are undefeated. Same with Cincinnatti.
