I don't think so. Deck is stacked against him. Colt Brennan is a good example. Although Hawaii and UH's offenses are nothing alike.
case has been in alot of talks about the heisman, if they woulda been undefeated they woulda been top 8 right now and UH would be talked about alot as a BCS buster and that would only help Case
If the frogs whip the utes this week... does UT have a shot at being bumped from the national title game? i can hear a real controversy brewing. it would be made worse if UT doesn't totally obliterate its final competition, too.
No. Look at the AP poll for instance. The lowest UT is ranked anywhere is 3. The highest TCU is ranked anywhere is 4 (and as low as 7 in some places). It would take a monumental human poll change to switch the two. First UT was going to get jumped by USC. Then it was Miami. Then it was Virginia Tech. Then it was Iowa. Then it was Oregon. Now it is TCU. It's just the UT haters way of trying to demean the 'Horns play. Every week there is a new team that might jump us, but the scenario is the same as it has been since week 1. Win out, and we are in. Any other scenario is simply not going to happen.
No. It's not all about UT. It's about TCU and how impressive they have been. They have a legitimate argument if they smash Utah this week.
I know what you mean, but I disagree on this, especially the Colt Brennan comparison. What really hurt Brennan last year was that his Hawaii team beat garbage teams..... Teams not even all Division I. Keenum, on the other hand, has wins over three BCS teams, including one that is top 15 as we speak. Keenum still has a shot at NYC, though probably not at winning. What's helping him, beyond those big wins and stats, is how he's led his teams to victories in the waning moments over USM and Tulsa. What REALLY would've helped his case is if Okie State and Tech were both top 20 teams right now. Those wins would really look nice. I think that if UH wins out, Case has a strong chance to make NYC for the Heisman show. Now, I agree he probably won't win, but that would be quite an accomplishment. Also, Ty Detmer won a Heisman back in the day, too, though I'm not sure who his competition was. Did Klingler win, or did he just have insane stats?
Have they been more impressive than UT? I'm not trying to be a homer. I mean, people can point at Texas struggling, but they still have statistically the number one defense (yards allowed) and the number one scoring offense, I believe. People want to point towards the slow starts for Texas, or the close OU game. TCU only beat Air Force by 3. Not exactly a juggernaut of a team, either. Both teams have beaten one ranked team currently, correct? I just hate that it's such a beauty contest..... I agree that it should be settled on the field, rather than in the papers and on message boards.
So... you tell me you disagree that he doesn't have a shot. Then you immediately turn around and say he won't win it? Um. Thanks for validating my point I guess? What does Ty Detmer have to do with anything? That was 1990. Long before the BCS. Klingler finished 5th or 6th I think.
No, they haven't been more impressive than UT. I can't make that judgement call. But like I said. If they paste Utah this week and win out and UT doesn't completely annihilate their final 3 opponents. Then TCU, in my mind, will have just as much right to the title game as UT does.
I understand. But not a SINGLE voter has TCU ahead of UT right now. That change won't just happen. And it is just as much about UT as it is TCU, when Texas is the one being passed. Remember, Texas and TCU have nearly identical strength of schedules, so the human poll will be a huge factor. People filling out their ballots will have to come up with a reason to drop Texas, and that will not happen. Especially with the added publicity of Colt becoming the all-time wins leader, and a Conference Championship Game. All we have heard through the entire year is how there is a "Big 3" in college football, and unless one loses it will stay that way. And even if TCU takes care of business at home against the #16 team, it will be hard to replicate what Texas did on the road against the #14 team. Texas will not be jumped. Especially now that they are playing lights out. Over the last three weeks they have played well enough to absolutely earn a spot in the Championship game. I love watching TCU play. I went to high school with Jerry Hughes. I love seeing them succeed. But there is honestly no chance of them passing Texas. It just simply won't happen.
I hope Jahvid Best turn out OK, the injury he took looked very frightening. For those of you who haven't seen it. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QzKKUJ5eRxo&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QzKKUJ5eRxo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
I really hope you are not setting yourself up for massive disappointment. Points to take from this: 1) TCU deserves massive respect 2) the BCS is horsecrap
Agreed 100%. This isn't a case of me saying Texas is definitely the better team. TCU I think has a better chance of beating us than Alabama of Florida. I would pay huge money to see a TCU-Texas game. But with the system we have there is a 0% chance of an undefeated non-BCS conference team passing an undefeated BCS conference team. The system sucks, but it is what it is.
