One time, I'd like to watch Texas play a game on TBS that doesn't involve us sucking it up in the first quarter and then having to storm back to even get back into the game. Colt McCoy is pretty ridiculous for a freshman though. And after the travesty that was the first half, Tech hasn't scored anything in the second half.
Colt McCoy with another nice run to put the game away. He shows as much poise as any freshman QB I've seen.
why the hell is colt mccoy carrying baggage? if i was the starting quarterback for texas no way would i keep a girlfriend, let alone one all the way in lubbock..
Great comeback by UT and Colt McCoy. He is offically a Texas legend. I really can't stand Mike Leach. He reminds me too much of Dirk Nowitzki. They have that same stupid "there has to be a foul/penalty if I missed that shot/my qb threw an incompletion...my WR's don't know how to get to the yard marker...try to run the ball up the middle when we've run for a whopping 0 yards on 10 rushes". I honestly don't believe he is a good head coach. Is he a great offensive coordinator? Sure. I just a firm believer that the head coach should have the ability to call plays on both sides of the ball. Anywhoo...good win for the Horns. Especially with USC going down.
Um, the polls will decide the title matchup, not you. That's why the BCS formula was created. At this point, the way the season is going in college football, Texas has a decent chance to get to the title game. And besides, 1) the Ohio State game was Colt's 2nd game ever as a QB for UT and 2) who says Michigan won't beat Ohio State?
In my opinion, this day has solidifed Texas playing for the National Championship again. I don't see Texas losing again this year. This game was my last hope. With USC losing today, it's hard to argue against Texas being the 2nd best team in the country. Ohio State is Ohio State. They are the clear #1. After Ohio State, I really think you have to say Texas is the best 1 loss team right now. tOSU and Michigan will have to play one another and one of them will have a loss. I think the SEC is a mess and no SEC team will play for the NC. I don't see ND playing for the MNC either, unless Michigan beats tOSU. So right now, I think it's Texas' battle to lose.
OSU can lose to Michigan and still make it in the National Championship game. Just like when OU lost to K St. in the Big 12 Championship and still made it into the NC game.
It may not have been a blowout but Texas was dominated. And yes texas has beaten ranked teams like nebraska, but other 1 loss teams like USC (although they had a horrible loss today) killed teams like Nebraska where UT had trouble with them.
I don't want tOSU to lose to Michigan, but my fat ass will eat an extra helping of turkey if Texas loses to A&M.
sometimes i don't think colt is as good as his stats say he is (the ridiculous TD/INT ratio and his rating) and then sometimes i think he's even better. he makes few enough mistakes as a freshman to really get any INT (though he has been fairly lucky on not getting picked off), he seems to be great at finding the mismatch and passing for touchdowns (the last two weeks on the bombs to sweed, the pass to cosby that was short but ended up going for a 20 yard TD), he is pretty damn accurate (doesn't wildly overthrow to the secondary, doesn't chunk it into the ground like bomar did a lot last year), and finally, he has great pocket presence. he'll never run like vince but he seems to have vince's sense of when to run and when to stick in there. he seems to always just be running out of the grasp of a rushing lineman who you think he may not have seen, he hangs in there when it looks like the pocket is breaking down but it really isn't. he's great at pulling it down to scramble around for a second and then find the open guy. and when he finally does take off, he is really fast and knows how to get his yards. combine that sort of 6th sense and art form of knowing when to go and when to pass with his accuracy and ability to find the open guy and you've got someone who is amazing for a freshman. i mean it obviously helps having a great offensive line that doesn't let you get hit much and a deep, athletic receiving group that demands a defense's attention and thus gives you lanes to run in, but it still takes a certain qb to utilitize it. that run he had that got called back to the 1, he breaks a hand tackle, then beats a guy to the corner and almost makes it in. that final play, he's smart enough to know not to risk a throw, then through all the commotion easily finds a running lane by reversing field and then just flies by everyone to seal the game. i thought after the pick 6 we might see his first true "freshman game" but he came back and put together a great game. do we rack up passing TD that would've been runs in the past and do those help pad the stats, yeah, but he's still great for a freakin' freshman. oh, and that may have been the worst defensive effort to ever produce a second half shutout i've ever seen. guys were still getting open (note the 2nd and 15 where harrell just lobbed it to a guy standing 10 yards open on the sideline), we never really got to the qb, and we didn't really force 3 and outs, and we even gave up 14.9 out of 15 yards on a 4th and 15, but stopping them twice by inches and forcing a TO or two were all we needed. definitely didn't think we would win by scoring 14 in the second half. and now, after NEB and this game, 2 games that just drained me, we get the annual oklahoma state game on tbs wherein we fall way behind before staging an amazing comeback that takes everything out of me. and the way oklahoma state passes, we probably can't afford to do that this year. maybe the D will show up next weekend, lets hope so.
There is an ever so slight difference in playing Nebraska in Los Angeles, compared to playing them in Lincoln.
I didnt say USC should be in the championship, all im sayin is I dont think UT deserves to be in the championship.
