Yep, it was the studio guy that always disagrees and debates with Lou Holtz on Saturdays. Holtz maintained that USC could lose while the other guy bascially said they had too much talent to lose in the weak Pac 10. I have NEVER liked Lou Holtz but he was right and the other guy was wrong.
awesome game SUC better be out of the top 10 come monday unless there are some other crazier upsets over the weekend...it pisses me off constantly how they can do seemingly no wrong whatsoever. I think last year after the stanford loss they didnt drop that far. Heck OSU dropped from 5 to 14 after losing a road game to SUC, if you drop 8-9 spots after losing to the #1 ranked team in the country without your best player than losing on the road to a totally unranked team that you were favored to beat by more than 3 touchdowns should drop them down past 10. there goes any realistic chance for them to be in the bcs title game as well...just awesome good day to be in westwood
I don't think Florida will take the SEC. Georgia and LSU will play in the SEC championship game and the winner will play in the BCS bowl. Florida has some incredible skill players but I bet both LSU and Georgia beat them this season.
I can see Florida and LSU playing twice this year. I think that Florida can beat UGA on Nov 1. I really see UGA losing twice this year. They have one of the toughest 5 week schedules in the nation. Oct 18 Vandy Oct 25 @ LSU Nov 1 Florida Nov 8 Kentucky Nov 15 @ Auburn
I'm in the same boat as you, though admittedly biased as a Florida fan. The only game I'm worried about is against Georgia. And honestly, Georgia's play thus far has not impressed me. I'm still holding judgment on Florida, but so far the two concerns I've had coming into this season have been relative strengths: defense and the run game. Hopefully both units can continue to improve up to the Georgia game. I will feel better about our NC chances if that happens. Florida's schedule is also very forgiving this year. The only "tough" foes they play away from home are Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and FSU. I see no problem with them taking down LSU at home. A first year starting QB in The Swamp doesn't worry me, especially with how the Gator D has been playing so far. If our corners can play decent vs. LSU, it's game over. Florida was also within a hair of beating LSU's NC squad at LSU under the lights last year, and we beat up on them in The Swamp the year before that (both teams that were superior to this year). Whereas Georgia is the opposite, I'm going to take your above schedule and add a little bit to it: Oct 18 #21 Vandy Oct 25 @ #5 LSU Nov 1 #4 Florida (basically an away game for them since it is in Jackonsville). Nov 8 @ Kentucky Nov 15 @ #15 Auburn 4 ranked teams in 5 weeks, which includes basically 4 away games in a row (3 of which are against ranked teams). This is all assuming they get past Alabama though...
Fellow Gator fan here (based on your 'friend asked out my sister' thread I'm guessing you live in Jax or Tampa now?) and I feel the exact same way on all points. Georgia's schedule is pretty tough (I think they end up w/ 2 losses), while our schedule is easier than when we won the NC on '06. Strangely enough our defense and run game look great, but the passing game has only shown glimpses of what it can do...and I hope it gets in sync soon. I'm looking for some serious revenge against UGA for last season's disgraceful end zone celebration.
Man I love college football! This is the first year I didn't hate USC with a passion. I didn't feel they were overhyped as typical. Until after week 1... You wanna root for Sanchez. Oh well. Every year USC falls to an underdog. The voters will forget about this loss in 2 months and put them in the title game even though a 2 loss SEC team will logically be more deserving.
To you Gatorfans: both your team and Alabama are fortunate they don't play each other this year. That is the only matchup missing in the 4 team triumvirate of Georgia, LSU, Alabama and Florida. So I have to agree there is a good chance Florida makes the SEC championship game from the east (and if they beat Georgia it's a moot point). You have the added benefit of skipping Auburn, who is the 5th best team in the conference. Urban Meyer must be living right.
My point exactly. USC has the easiest schedule here on out and since they lost early in the season it's going to hurt them less. Being a pac-10 guy I really dislike the Trojans but the Beavers at Reser stadium are kryptonite for USC. As much as I'd like to see them lose again I just don't see it happening the rest of the way especially after this wake up call. The SEC teams are going to beat each other up so Florida/LSU/Georgia/Bama etc are all each going to have 2 losses. I think NC will be: USC vs. Penn State USC vs. Oklahoma USC vs. some SEC team if the 2 above teams falter (more than 1 loss)
They did a segment the day before the game on who would a game between USC and the St. Louis Rams. Wonder when ESPN is going hop off of USC's c$ck.
Yup. The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen was the national media's reaction to USC's romp over Virginia. It was disgusting. Virginia is a horrible team -- they were blown out just as badly by Connecticut, who barely survived against Baylor! Virginia barely won at home against I-AA Richmond! Yet, after that game, USC immediately ascended to #1... and even before they played Ohio State, national media types kept pointing to the Virginia game as though it was just an incredible statement of dominance. In reality (and I said this dozens of times)... Virginia is the ACC equivalent of Iowa State/Colorado/Baylor. If OU/Mizzou/UT beat up on one of those teams, you wouldn't hear one word about it in the national media, other than that they took care of business. When USC does it... all of a sudden it's a gold standard and proof that they're by far the most dominant team in the country. It's absurd. People love Pete Carroll and USC so much that they are actively looking for any little reason to fit their pre-established biases, and blow it way out of proportion.
