With their weak remaining schedule, USC's hopes for a national title have been torpedoed. I can't believe they lost against such a sorry team.
This is going to be another wild, wild season. It's only Week 5, and SC goes down two weeks after pounding Ohio State. Insanity. Can't wait for Saturday to see Texas, and the Bama-UGA game.
It's tough to call it screwing it up when you have to actually play legit competition on a weekly basis.
USC will still be in the national championship game. NOBODY is going to finish the season unbeaten and because of this it's better to lose sooner rather than later.
A 1 loss SEC team and a 1 loss Big 12 team will be ahead of a 1 loss USC team. NC will be Texas vs Alabama
There's no way Texas makes it to the NC game having to play either Missouri or Oklahoma twice. Also Alabama may very well be a 2 loss team as well. That's one of the advantages USC has over a big 12 or SEC team they don't have to play a championship game. Believe me it's going to be USC vs somebody in the NC game. I wish it wasn't but it is what it is.
They don't play OU twice. Mizzou maybe, if they survive the regular season. I'm a Texas alum that goes to grad school at USC. Can't wait to see their faces tomorrow
Well Texas wouldn't have to play Oklahoma twice, unless it was for the NC or a bowl game (both in Big XII South), but Missouri would definitely be a tough draw twice... especially since, IIRC, the Big XII Championship is in Kansas City. We will definitely learn alot about this 'Horns squad here in the coming weeks with Oklahoma, Missouri, and Tech all in a four week span. Should be fun!
I love when people make statements like this as if it's a fact. You have no idea what is going to happen the season. I think college football is due for someone making it undefeated all the way this season as it has not happened for a couple of years. Even if it does not happen, any 1 loss team from the SEC or Big XII would get the nod over USC. As bad as the Pac 10 is this year and as bad of a team as USC lost to tonight, I would not be surprised if a 1 loss ACC or Big 10 team got into the championship game over USC as well. And I don't think the "better to sooner rather than later" argument really flies anymore as the voters seem to be more intelligent now than in the past. Ask Georgia if losing early in the season helped them out last year.
Another interesting thing I have seen happening with an increasing frequency is voters adjusting the polls based on level of play. It used to be that you wouldn't move down in the polls unless you lost, and you couldn't move up unless someone above you lost. Now we've seen Georgia drop from 1st to 3rd with never losing a game. I think the voters are looking a lot more at level of play and talent rather than merely records because of the past two OSU debacles.
My brother played both of them in HS and they both killed his team...My brother was a NT for Seven Lakes, said Jaquez (sp?) ran all over them both years he played them
