yeah there are a few stats like that running around that are pro-OSU. UT has won it's last 21 of 22 true road games (meaning not OU in Dallas), so take that with a grain of salt. and let's not forget UT also stopped Nebraska's 47 game home winning streak. anyhow...those stats don't really matter. these are 2 huge programs with big time players and its going to be a hell of a game.

that being said i think people are going to see just how dominating gene chizik's defense truly is.

As I said in the other thread about this game, I think it will be a game similar to the Rose Bowl.

In a battle of two teams I dislike, I stay loyal to the Big Ten and go with Ohio State (although they should have handled Miami of Ohio better last week than they did).

Tight game decided by poor Texas kicking. Ohio State 35 Texas 33.

OSU only beat Miami (OH) by 20, yet they're going to beat the #2 team in the country by 30? Ooooohkay.

I think the game will be crazy close. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of 14-13.

BTW, while OSU has never lost a night game at home, I swear I heard a host on 610 say they've only played seven. If that's wrong, then up your's, Rich Lord. :)

If what my friends have been telling me is true, OSU put out their third string for that last portion of the game. I still believe this game will be too close to call right now.

Major Malcontent sounds like a bitter aggie looking to take a cheap shot at the finest team in Texas.

Major, if you're so certain Texas will get whipped by OSU by 30, why don't you put your money where your mouth is? Hmmm? Or is all this bluster just for show?

I know this isn't to me, but that would just be stupid. Just because someone believes an unlikely scenario will happen doesn't mean he should take 1:1 odds on it when the "official" odds are 10:1 or 20:1. That would just be a stupid bet.

Texas is going to slaughter Ohio State Saturday night.

That being said, are we going to have a H-town Longhorn get-together for the game? Should we meet at Live? Texadelphia????

What UTfans have to remember is they have been spanking teams who want to be their rivals throughout college football history with the exception of the recent OU losing streak (though UT owns them overall as well).

Sooners do have bragging rights right now, no question, but the rest are lots of jealous, hatefull sorts with substantial cumulative and recent trama at the hands of the Longhorns, better not to engage such folks.

I seriously doubt OSU will score 20. It would not suprise me if both teams were held way below 20. In fact I expect a low scoring game (with neither offenses to putting many drives together) unless the defenses or special teams produce points. OSU usually has a cup cake non-conference schedule, so Semptember home record, night record, etc, not very meaningfull. OSU's dreadfull home record versus Michigan the last decade (the only other opponent that resembles UT in size, speed, talent and profile to play at the horseshoe) is probably just as relevant, but again, not much. The only reason that game isn't at night is because it could get frigid at that time a year.

i seriously doubt that nebraska and kstate "want" to be our rivals. however, recent history has forced them dislike Texas tremendously (esp. nebraska.)
here's an "equation" i came up with a few years ago while trying to explain to an aggy that they had a "rivalry" with us (Texas.) it's a bit outdated, but still relevant.
    aTm<Texas<OK<=>NU
another way to say: aTm has a "rivalry" with Texas. Texas has a "rivalry" with OK. OK has a RIVALRY with NU.
like i said, it's outdated now, but the general concept is still valid. (clearly NU has lost ALL of it's luster in recent years.)

O.k so I was using a little hyperbole to get a rise out of some of ya'll.

Texas isn't the most overrated team in history. But I have a lot of real questions about Youngs arm (though not his legs) and I don't think with Benson in Chicago that UT can run consistantly against running back U.

We'll see Sat night, should be fun to watch.

I didn't get to see all of the Lou-Laf game, so I missed Henry Melton's performance. Does anyone know where I could find highlights of the game? I read about his tackle breaking runs and I was hoping to see them.

I can't wait for the game even though I always feel sick with nerves on big games like this. I'm thinking about betting somebody $50 that Texas loses straight up so that if we don't win, I'll have $50 to drown my sorrows.

I've always thought about doing that on big games. That way if Texas wins, I'll be happy to 'buy' that win for $50. :)

    abc.com

they took the little "HDTV" logo away from the game on the calendar.
message boards are blowing up at this moment.

    what a joke...

Thanks Pablo... That helped a lot.

Wow, those runs by Melton were incredible for a guy his size. I think that he'll be really hard on defenses if we can keep rolling him through the line. For being so big, he can really move his feet.

Aaron Ross looked good returning punts, but it looks awkward the way he holds the ball.

Melton has incredible footwork for a guy his size. It's gonna take more than 1 player to bring him down for sure, having him and Vince in goal line situations is going to be almost unstoppable to stop.

6-3 270lbs as a freshman RB? He really reminds me of the Bus, he uses his body/strength to break tackles and then really has good acceleration to get away. I think him and Jamaal Charles are gonna have the UT running game strapped tight for the next 3 years.

Unless your name is Adrian Peterson, I don't think that you can rely on a Freshman running back in a game this big. I don't care how good they looked against Ulala. Ohio State is another story. You put in Selvin in this case.
