Wow. Just simply stunning and wow. I was actually writing an article about this for my publication late last night. This story is just unreal
The SEC is loaded.....again. Even sorry schools like Ole Miss have top 25 recruiting classes in some ranks.
This maybe the biggest pickup for Mack since VY. We've done a good job in picking up WR talent, now we have the QB to go along with them. I hope this doesn't deter Shepard, he said he wants a shot at QB but he also said he'd change positions if need be. While Shepard is currently the #1 rated QB in Texas, I think Gilbert will take over the spot.
Here is a video of Gilbert. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EHwBirQRVBc&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EHwBirQRVBc&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Just ignore the troll. It's all he's got when Rice is looking at another terrible season. Mack has said over and over that he only wants guys that want to play at UT. That's why he gets so many to commit early. Great news about Gilbert, too. I'm looking forward to seeing the CB from Round Rock McNeil. His name escapes me, but he's going to be a stud.

wow great looking prospect. throws it well, especially on the run. reminds me of j.brantley who ended up going to florida. i like his footwork, always on his toes ready to throw the ball.
I laugh at this. A coach wants the best players he can get and the players that can make him look good.
I don't care one way, or another about UT, but why the need to be such a douchebag in *every* thread about them? It's pathetic.
Mack is making up for this year's class. He's got a great start to the '09 class already. All Texas kids, so hopefully no one switches. Someone summarized on hornfans. QB- Gilbert (Rivals #2) RB- Whaley (Rivals #9) WR- Timmons (Rivals #10) OL- Porter (Rivals #30) OL- Kelley (Rivals #31) DB- Davis (Rivals #15)
This has the making to be a 2002-type class (VY's class). I think we still need to bring in McFarland (Rivals #2 overall prospect) and Okafor too really fill in our needs. Unfortunately, the front on Russell Shepard doesn't look too good. I really wanted this kid and he has said all he wants is a shot at QB. I think a lot will depend on whether Pryor goes to Michigan or not, if he does, I think Shepard will commit to the Horns almost immediately. Regardless, picking up Gilbert and Whaley is HUGE for Mack.
