Too bad we missed out on Scott, no hard feelings though. But that October 4th game is gonna be a must see. We still pulled in a pretty good class despite losing the top Texas talent to OU almost right off the back. Hopefully Mack makes it up with a stellar 2009 class that has a ton of elite talent.

I really though Michigan would have closed the deal by now. With RichRod running the show, you would think he (RichRod) could sell Prior that he would be the next Pat White. Pryor could play as a freshman there, in an offense that would suit him. Tough to see how Pryor would be utilized correctly at Penn State. Ohio State would work to incorporate his strengths, Tressell is smart enough to do that. But Michigan seems like a no-brainer.
Agreed totally on Michigan. He would rarely have to make any difficult throws in that spread offense. Granted, running a cake system like that with tons of draws, keepers and four yard passes doesn't prepare you for the pro's but it's certainly an effective strategy to dominate the college game. Pryor is obviously better than Morelli but I think it's noteworthy to point out JoePA hasn't exactly had great success with his last Western, PA product. I guess we'll have to see what happens. I still think he'll pick Michigan. Although, i'm sure you read the Post Gazette article today alluding to him needing more time to basically give Penn St. the final make-or-break vote. He mentioned something about being so busy with basketball/football that he hadn't even had a chance to visit Penn St. yet and he planned to do so. Pittsburgh, PA....eh? Thought I was the only one.

Listening to Crabtree on 790. Rod Davis will sign tonight at 7:30...most think he'll stay commited to A&M. Also said McGuffie will pick between Michigan, A&M, and now Cal is in the mix. He would really make that A&M class really good, but going to Michigan under Rich would be a great fit IMO.

After an impressive flurry of commitments in the past 48 hours, and thanks to a solid recruiting foundation that was laid in the spring and summer, Alabama has been crowned by Rivals.com as the recruiting national champions for the class of 2008. Adding Julio Jones to the class put Alabama on top to stay. The Crimson Tide finished with an amazing run in Nick Saban's second recruiting class in Tuscaloosa. Saban and his staff landed three five-star players and 18 four-star recruits, giving them enough of a push to edge Notre Dame and SEC rival Florida. As of 3 p.m. EST, the Tide was sitting with 2,819 points, just ahead of Notre Dame, Florida, Oklahoma and Georgia. The rest of the Rivals.com top 10 consisted of Miami at No. 6, Florida State at No. 7, Ohio State at No. 8, Michigan at No. 9 and USC at No. 10. There are several uncommitted players who could cause some shifts in the top-10, but nobody has enough left on the board to knock the Tide from their perch. Alabama's class got started in February 2007 when four-star defensive end Michael Williams jumped on board. But things really got hot in March when the Tide added commitments from Jermaine Preyear, Brandon Lewis, Undra Billingsley and Ivan Matchett. Has Texas ever finished out of the top 10 in recruiting classes since Mack came on? I though we always won the February ring?
After bringing in back to back Top 3 classes, I think we were due an off year. But this class still has a ton of talent which I think people are disregarding because they aren't any 5 stars. With that said, Mack needs to pull out a stellar class next year. The 2009 class maybe one of the most talented classes to come out of Texas in a while. We need to round em' up big time.
One can''t really judge a class untill after they graduate. However, I think we rought in some good players. No great players though.
The Longhorns have 9 of their 20 commitments in the ESPN 150. That is the 5th most of any school. Not too bad. The only teams with more are Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Florida.
