I was wondering if the Bucket was going to get its own thread of if we'd been relegated to the generic "college football" one. This has been a nightmarish season for Rice in all facets of the game. still, being a rice fan, you quickly learn how to spot silver linings. we've won our last two games and had a good showing over the last three weeks. we are playing our best football of the season coming into the game with UH (lol, take that for what it's worth) and winning on saturday would be a nice ending going into next year, which I'm confident will be better than this one and the 2007 season. I haven't followed UH football too closely this season aside from the obvious ranked/beating BCS schools storylines, but it seems like the coogs' biggest weakness is run defense? can anyone confirm or deny? if that is the case, the owls may have a shot at playing some ball-control offense; our two top RBs are healthy and looking good behind a finally-somewhat-gelled OL. of course, this is all ignoring UH's ridiculous offense and rice's (adjective withheld) defense. My pick: (heart) Rice - 35 UH - 31 (head) UH - 56 Rice - 28
UH has really been overrated all year - certainly not worthy of being ranked in many people's view. When UTEP hangs 58 on you, and you lose convincingly at UCF, ummm.....you're not top 25 material, sorry. UH has no defense and a dink and dump pass happy offense. People got all excited when UH beat Ok State, but the reality of it is that Ok State has not beaten a team that is ranked (as of now) all year. Yes, they beat Georgia, but now we know that Georgia is way off this year.
You'd be surprised...I saw a LOT of folks wearing those 'ruck fice' shirts from the beginning of the semester. They were everywhere. The whole 'hate another college because it shows school pride' or whatever always seems kinda silly. I guess it's suppose to be the same as hating the Jazz or Mavs...just could never get into to the college level hate.
