I just want to know why Gundy even called a timeout in that situation. What is the possible explanation?

It wasn't respectful to the media, though. Or to the public. :D

I think Stoops realized he made a big boo-boo with the totally classless last-second TD and is now trying to make up for it by declaring that he's not voting in the Coaches' Poll this week. It's a pretty good tactic, IMO, and might just work to balance out the douchebaggery of not taking a knee on the last play.

BTW, if OU wins the NC, Bradford wins the Heisman, and McCoy leaves for the NFL, I just might commit seppaku.

Again Tech is out of the debate b/c of the whooping OU gave Tech. OU removed Tech from the discussion, UT on the other hand helped Tech make a case before last week.

If its a simple h2h argument now than your punishing OU for removing Tech from the discussion. That just doesnt make sense.

BTW UT barely beat OSU should we punish them ? OU beat them pretty easily on the road and with Tech well that game was over by halftime.

and Nebraska is a halfway decent team not sure why they keeping being tossed in along side the Baylors of the world.

    OU beat OSU easily?
End of the game running up the score aside:
It was a 3 point game in the 4th quarter.

This is the problem with the "toss TT because they got blown out argument". If style points matter, and Tech gets penalized for losing that badly, then OU should get credit for beating Tech that badly. If OU beats Tech by 4 instead of 40, they probably don't drop that far - so we'd be penalizing OU for destroying Tech, which makes no sense. If you look at it a true head-to-head-to-head, you get this:

    Oklahoma

    Points Scored: 100
    Points Against: 66
    Net Points: 34
    Total Yards: 1060
    Total Yards Against: 844
    Net Yards: 216

    Texas

    Points Scored: 78
    Points Against: 74
    Net Points: 4
    Total Yards: 812
    Total Yards Against: 1014
    Net Yards: -202

    Texas Tech

    Points Scored: 60
    Points Against: 98
    Net Points: -38
    Total Yards: 985
    Total Yards Against: 999
    Net Yards: -14

Maybe not the ideal way to do it, but less subjective than throwing out Tech because of style points. We'll see how it plays out - the 45-35 campaign seems to have been pretty effective (far more than I would have thought) and may very well flip some votes, but Missou losing really hurt the computers and it probably won't be enough unless we switch a whole lot of votes. :(

At the end of the day, though, its a toss up to me between OU and UT. I can't complain either way it turns out, because the reality is that you can't throw TT out of the mix just because we don't think they are as good. If the argument is to look at records and not style points (which is the UT argument, basically), then Tech is right there with the other two.

I can't believe our (Missouri's) choke job against Kansas might cost Texas the national championship. Unreal. :(

OTOH, it's clear the head-to-head argument was persuasive, shaving the margin from 42 points to 1. Unfortunately, it seems like the computers -- the very thing that saved Texas the past few weeks -- will be the death blow.

Who the hell voted Texas Tech #1?

That's progress, and if Missouri had won, that might have been enough in that poll. But OU looks like they are going to pass us in the computers now, so we actually need a solid lead in the polls, as opposed to just getting to even.
