i dont know if ty wilingham would fit in at A&M though. I dont think he has any texas connections either. tommy tuberville is probably the best bet right now. norm chow (tennesse titans) would be interesting but i dont know how good of a recruiter he'd be.
Two things to note: 1. Tuberville was a coordinator at A&M under Slocum. 2. Three years ago, news leaked that several members of the Auburn board of regents had taken the Regions Bank jet to Louisville for the purpose of hiring Bobby Petrino to replace Tuberville. This happened during the season, was a complete scandal, and culminated in Auburn reversing course and keeping Tuberville. I don't expect that Tuberville will necessarily feel too bad about walking out on Auburn.
Two things to look at. 1) His buyout is insane. Seven million I read somehwhere. 2) There's an Auburn booster who SI wrote an article on. Apparently he runs Auburn like his own hacienda. He screwed up a few years back on the leaking but he'll make it right by increasing his salary or making it difficult for T.T. do get bought out.
For one, I don't think that Tuberville is necessarily the be all and end all of coaching. That being said, if we don't get Tuberville, it won't be because we get outbid. There is plenty of money floating around campus. As for point #2, there is no way to make a guy forget you trying to stab him in the back mid season, but not doing it because you screwed it up and could not replace him for political reasons.
