How so? You think football recruits care if they can watch UT Tennis or swimming and diving? Nothing of importance is going be on that network because it's secondary to the other TV contracts.

Then we're in agreement. I'm already blaming UT for making a stupid decision here. :)

honestly, UT...the hand wringing is very unbecoming on behalf of THE University of Texas.

I never thought I'd see the day where it was so "woe as me" to be a UT fan or grad. The academics will suffer. We'll get beat out by other teams in other conferences. The Tower is starting to lean. Dogs and cats sleeping with one another.

To assume that adding Sam Bradford = running the table... well, that's a leap of faith I just can't make.

I'm not sure, but I think he's saying OU had enough other problems that they would have a lost a game somewhere along the way regardless.

but you'd have me make the leap that Texas wouldn't have won that game if he were in, right??

Now I really hope that the former big 12 starts acting like the strong conference they are and make themselves better by going after other conference’s schools. Nebraska and CU are schools that can easily be replaced, and if done right can be upgraded. Who do you think they should add? assuming they add, which they need to grow a pair and do. I say:

    1) Ark-the razorbacks are dying to get out of the SEC and join their rivals (UT/TAMU) in the big 12, while it doesn’t bring a significant market it brings a significant school that once out of the SEC I feel will rise to where they once were. Plus J. Jones would throw big money behind this school. And if the goal is making a good TV show I think this helps and is realistic.

    2) BYU- It adds a new market, and one that is somewhat nationwide (Mormons are everywhere). They are a strong school that if in the conference could definitely boost ratings. It adds a strong team to the north and is solid in all other sports.

If those two schools are added I don’t see how the Big 12 "loses" we are arguably the 2nd best conference in the nation I say its about time we act like it.

Considering the fact that OU was winning when he got hurt, which was extremely early in the game, and UT only ended up winning by 3 points, it's not that hard of a leap in logic to make.

Bradford being worth 3 points against UT? Seems pretty reasonable.

Bradford equalling running the regular season table AND a Big 12 title game win? Err... kinda hard to swallow.

    you win.

as an aside: Texas should give up football entirely, now. :) Without the power teams of the Pac 10, how can anyone expect UT to compete now?????

BYU would be a solid coup but the Big 12 would have to accommodate their no games on Sunday stance, they already have their own TV network, and the MWC is looking like a BCS conference by the time they'd arrive in the Big 12. So the question almost is, do they even want in that bad?

Sounds like many of you guys are assuming that the Big 12 isn't planning on replacing NU/CU. Don't forget that the realignment won't take place until 2012 so the thought of not having a conference championship might be moot since I think they'll definitely have replacements by then, teams like Air Force and BYU have been rumored as targets.

As far as Texas and SOS, we will still play NU in 2010 and 2011 and believe it or not, Mack and co. has also strengthened our OOC schedule. We've scheduled games with UCLA, CAL, BYU, Mississippi, Minnesota, and I believe we still have an open spot in 2013, 2014, and 2015. I know some of those teams aren't great but it's an improvement from the OOC schedule we've seen the past couple years and I believe we've done pretty good (BCS Ranking wise) despite of it. If UT really thinks the loss of NU, who they wouldn't play in 2012 and 2013 anyways, is really gonna hurt their SOS, they at least have the option of scheduling a really tough OOC game.

I get the feeling the Big 12 isn't trying to expand to be honest, or stay at 12 rather. If I am not mistaken Nebraska leaves next year, NCAA rules state you need 12 for a conference title game, unless they move now they don't have the time to add another team and stay at 12... it isn't a moot point, the death of that title game is very real.

Playing Minnesota is not strengthening your schedule.

How about a nice sixty minute expose on Muschamp and his defensive philosphies, or a nice piece on Orakpo and his NFL experience or a series on what it's like to be a student athlete at Texas. Better yet how about a mini series on past Longhorn football greats, who'll make a point to comment on the importance of state pride. I'm personally looking forward to seeing an undercover piece on street agents and their historical importance in Souther States.

The LHN will no be just about sports. I hate to say it but it'll be the collegiate equivalent of the PRC propaganda media tool that Texas kids will grow up watching.

    ....and I love it!

Supposely Texas Tech is trying to find a place to land and will the big 12 if they can find a spot....

    Not quite over yet...

True Texas Tech is not an attractive by itself but if they can talk Oklahoma state in joining them thats not bad for the pac 10. I bet the pac 10 is probaly pretty upset that texas is not coming if they can get Tech/OSU to join it will better their conference and also stick it to Texas.....

You're right, NU leaves July 2011. I firmly believe the Big 12 will bring in replacements so that's why I said it "might" be a moot point.

Nebraska is leaving in 2011 - not sure about Colorado, but I assume it's the same because there's no point having an 11 team conference. The B12 has stated they are staying at 10, but obviously they have to say that.
