    The Big 10 disagrees.

Sin- All of their schools are in the AAU.

Well, it was fun while it lasted I guess. Gotta admit that I was really excited about playing Pac-10 teams and road trips out to the West Coast but a $20M t.v. deal plus our own network is not a shabby consolation prize.

Sweet. So we remain in a major conference and get a hefty raise while we're at it

Why are the UT faithful happy with this outcome? Wasn't UT due a raise because of the Big 12 TV contract expiring, and the "horn" network was coming regardless, no?

I'm seriously laughing at Nebraska right now. Thinking they got over, lol. We got everything we wanted...more money, our own network and get to still be the big fish while they'll be lucky to get into the Quick Lube Oil Change Bowl in the Big 10.

So everyone stays put after all. Anyone know(MadMax or 'Cat ;) ) if any other teams coming along or they staying with 10?

Not at all. UT was probably due a raise but the amount of that raise was a huge questionmark and the driving factor through this whole thing IMO. Moreover, while we've been wanting our own network for a while, there wasn't much information on this let alone a promise for one.

So this raise is bigger with NU and CU gone? I can't really see that. Didn't both of those schools put in more than they took out, or at least break even? I have a hard time seeing how this is a good thing for UT, it seems like a lateral move at best, if not a slight move backwards as most of it was inevitable.

What sports do people plan to watch on BevoNetwork? Swimming & diving? UT Tennis?

This is lame and a huge missed opportunity. UT will regret this and wanting out again in 10 years.

This is my thought as well. Unless the Big 12 can add two significant schools in the next few years, I think this whole thing reeks of "bandaid" and not "solution".

I was listening to some college sports analysts on Sirius and they were spreading out the financial points of the Nebraska to Big 10 move. Calculating all of the travel for their football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, etc. they will be just about breaking even even with the raise in incoming money.

Was an interesting show to say the least.

End of the day, all that happened was the Big 12 got weaker? Let down

Exactly right. They either stay at 10, losing one of their 4 premier schools (TX, OU, A&M, and Nebraska). Or they replace Nebraska with some Mountain West school or something. Either way, the B12 is the only conference in this whole thing that gets worse. (maybe the MWC also, but flipping Utah for Boise isn't a huge downgrade)

So does the idea of the 16 team super conference die with this?

Do the Pac 10 and the Big 10 stay put at 12 a piece?

I suppose the only way the Big 10 expands any further is if ND accepts, which will prompt them to grab 1 or 3 more teams from the Big East.

How is it a slight move backwards? UT has made it clearly known all along that 1. They wanted to stay in the Big 12; 2. They wanted a better t.v. contract; and 3. They wanted to start their own t.v. network. They were able to get all three which is a slam dunk considering that it was seriously looking like they were only going to get a better t.v. deal.

Not sure if the raise would have been bigger with NU and CU still in the picture (logically it would), but I personally think NU wanted out regardless of any new t.v. deal. But if you would have told me that the Big 12 would get a bigger t.v. deal than the SEC with or without NU, I probably would have said you were crazy. The opportunity to get start their own network is just icing on the cake.

I think it becomes less of a priority. I don't think there are 4 more schools that make sense for the Pac10 to add - I'd guess they add Utah and be done.

Big10 probably only expands if they add Notre Dame + one other team. I think in the long haul, they do get to 14 or 16. Unlike the Pac10, they have many options to expand - Notre Dame, Maryland, Vandy, Rutgers, Syracuse, etc.

Oh thank god. More UT + punching bags conference. My favorite. I'll be waiting intently by my television set until august.

Also - Coming Soon (!) to the BevoNetwork:

Arkansas and The Frogs and the SWC is good to go.

Too bad they couldn't figure a way to drop Iowa State. I bet their pay out is tiny.
