I clearly remember seeing an empty section in the corner of the upper deck..that's all. It wasn't just a few seats by the way..

I wasn't trying to bash UH though.

It's a bullcrap thing to say that deliberately misrepresents the appeal and popularity of that game and UH athletics. I don't buy for a minute that you weren't doing that to slight UH. Your agenda has been pretty clear throughout this thread. And that's fine, you're allowed to have your agenda, however, stick to the truth and don't blow smoke. There are plenty of things wrong with UH that can be talked about, but stick to the facts.

LOL - My agenda? The only thing I've cared about is where Baylor might potentially end up.

UH really shouldn't even be discussed here but you have your own agenda :)

I hope MadMax is right and the Pac-16 never comes to be. Even though it might help with getting closer towards a playoffs and bring in more revenue it really debases the legacy of the Pacific Conference.

That said I'm seeing a lot of bashing of the Pac-10. Well the Pac-10 as a major athletic conference is the best academic conference and no slouch in sports. True the Big 12 over the last 5 years has been better in football but the Pac-10 has done pretty well in many other sports. Also Pac-10 football is more than just USC.

The Astrodome was a long time ago. Mack Brown has changed UT football fans. UT didn't get stuck in the WAC. UT has played in 2 national championships recently.

Maybe in 5 years it would be different, but it would be a fight for tickets at Reliant. UH would have to get 35K tickets before Longhorns did to get the 50-50 at Reliant. UH does have the advantage that its students and season ticket holders would get first crack at going. I know a lot of UT alumni from Houston such as myself that would go to a game in Houston if it wasn't as hard as last time to get tickets.

I agree...and i'm not trying to slam the Pac 10 or anything like that.

But from a football standpoint alone...no one in the Pac 10 other than USC has been anything remotely close to what UT and OU have been over the last 10 years or so.

If UH could put 35K up for Tech, they could most definitely put 35K up for UT.

And open your mind a little bit with my hypotheticals, eh? Just trying to give you something to put things into perspective.

As for changing a program/school, the same could be said for UH... the UH from 2001 is about as different as the UH from 2010 as I could possibly imagine in that time frame.

I'm hearing that TCU is lobbying very hard for UH's inclusion into the MWC (Utah's impending departure is sparking this talk). The question for UH is, do you go to the MWC to make it a 10 team league, hoping to get a crack at the BCS soon, but significantly increasing your travel budgets... or do you stick it out in CUSA, stay with your friendly geography, and wait for the next realignment?

Go to the MWC. It would make the case for UH better for UH in next realignment.

The MWC makes no sense geographically.

It would over double the travel distance for us.

Plus, Utah leaving basically ends the MWC-BCS talk right there, unless UH, TCU, BYU, and Boise keep kicking serious butt.

It would be a huge gamble. But I think you do it, because staying in CUSA is far more of a negative than joining the MWC is a positive. It's addition by subtraction really.

    Get this:

There's only 3 ranked teams in Texas right now.

And only 1 of them is in a BCS AQ conference.

    HA!

I think you jump at it and don't look back. The MWC is as close as UH is going to get anytime soon to a BCS conference. The B12 doesn't benefit by adding UH (unless your implosion scenario happens). They don't make sense for any other major conference, and there's no telling when there will be another major realignment.

*arkoe can feel the headwind of the collective sigh of relief radiating from Waco.

    Talk about anticlimatic.

ditto this. i think a move like that with a chance to play against top 10 teams every season wouldn't hurt a thing. more national exposure that results in better recruiting and a more excited fanbase. personally, i'd be uber-pumped (and i'm wearing my your are the pride tier 1 t-shirt as i type this!) and would probably go to every home game. and like madmax taught me, it's all about me. :)
