I can tell you that BU coaches have been told it's a done deal.

Another thing, I can picture UH playing Texas in Houston and the entire stadium rooting for Texas except for a few specks here and there.

    Don't give me that crap.

The Tech game sold out over a week before kickoff.

People were scalping tickets for over $250.

The Houston TV ratings for that game were nearly on the level of Tech vs. UT the week before when both teams were undefeated AND were playing in primetime, as opposed to UH v. Tech which started late and ran well past midnight.

There were probably anywhere between 5K to 10K people left wanting a ticket that week.

"Empty seats" my ass. Can you take off the Baylor Bear hat for a moment and be objective about anything?

Sounds about right. Missouri coaches are being talked to by the AD as we speak, and they would only do that at the end of the process. And there's no way we'd be going to either Big Ten/SEC by ourselves (odd number), so assumption is that they're being told that we're staying.

Let's just join the SEC and be done with it.

UH had a decent season last year by their standards, what happens when they don't have a good season? Will the fanbase still be there?

Dude, seriously? This is borderlining on troll. UH and UT have played several times before. This was never the case. At worst it was split 50/50. I'm not saying UH has a huge fan base, but please throttle back the bullcrap rhetoric.

Dude, relax. I clearly remember an empty area in the upper deck corner. Its like 30,000 seats so don't act like it's soooo hard to fill..

Plus, my comment had nothing to do with Baylor so I'm not sure what your bolded text implies.

Btw, I was rooting hard for UH in that game and in general last season. Not sure why you hate on Baylor though :p

Don't know anything about the attendance for that particular game, but UH has been plagued by apathetic fans for years. I remember going to basketball games where I was one of seemingly a few dozen fans, and football games at the Dome with a couple thousand.

And Robertson is a tiny stadium for college football.

50/50 split? that's surprising...maybe my friends are the only fickle fans UH has.

    That's the biggest question mark.

UH is going through a transitional period.

Even as a pure commuter school in the 60s and 70s they managed to pull 45K into the dome.

Then they absolutely NOSEDIVED during the 80s (save for 88-91).

The school is literally a completely different animal since the breakup of the SWC.

Tier 1, more on campus housing, the university master plan, and now the facilities upgrades, etc.

I can't tell you that the fan base will increase during a down year, but I can tell you that the overall downward trajectory of the 80s and 90s is over.

Attendance has been on the uptick since 2002, and in a real hurry. Something like a 70% increase over that 8 year period, that's nuts. And given the opportunity to play in a major conference, I can easily see it doubling in no time at all.

Is UH ever going to be UT or A&M? No. Can UH be Miami? Ga Tech? Pitt? UCLA? You bet your ass they can.

Great post. I would give you a more substantial pat on the back, but someone's software won't let me.

It bugs me because you're deliberately trying to misrepresent things to bash UH.

Go to any UT or A&M "sellout". It's likely to have empty pockets here or there. Some people don't show up. Some people go take dumps and buy beer. Some people leave early. Etc etc.

If you want to talk about bad fans, I can show you pictures from Baylor/Nebraska football games where Nebraska was literally 50% of the crowd. But I'm not going to do that, because I'm a nice guy and I have no reason to hate on Baylor, which I haven't done yet in this thread. All I've done is make the case that UH should be looked out for ahead of Baylor, which, from a Texas citizen standpoint, is absolutely true.

I am tired of all the UH/TCU whining. Okay, Ill let you twerps into a real conference... but just one of you. First you must play a 3 game series, winner gets in, loser shuts up. For all the marbles. Pay per view. Dallas games played at Cowboy, Houston games in space.

This state has grown so fast and this town has grown so fast, UofH was bound to develop some since of community. A lot of kids who would have gone off to UT and A&M who can't anymore and are willing to stay home are making it an option. Kids looking for more than a commuter school experience

Not at all witty, or funny. Not sure what you're trying to say really. Houston games in space? Might as well say something like chimpanzees eat their own.

I think it has to do with stadium size. If the game was played in Reliant, UT fans would greatly outnumber UH fans. At Robertson, I think UH had to assemble temporary bleachers just to meet the seat committment to UT. UT still had a ton of fans wanting seats.

Considering the dome wasn't soldout for UT/A&M vs. UH back in the day and was 50/50, I kinda doubt stadium size is the issue.

The problem with bleachergate was that it came during the absolute lowest point in UH football history. That year? Yeah, UT probably might slightly outnumber UH in the stands. However, it's a really unrepresentative sample.

It'd be like if UT got stuck in WAC, had almost a decade of losing seasons, and then played A&M in Austin.

I get the feeling the Aggies might have a pretty solid piece of the crowd then, if not a majority, as UT averaged around 30-35K during their worst years. (Correct me if I'm wrong on the attendance)
