    Houston?

You know, given the 3 year grace period for adding a 12th team you might see if they get this Tier 1 plan going but I don't know who their Sugar Daddies are anymore without O'Quinn and John J Moore.

Whereas Memphis has FEDEX promising $10 mil a year for 10 years.
    Just saying, money talks.

I do agree on control - I just think it's a terrible reason to stay in a conference. My analogy earlier was that it was like picking being the Mayor of Dripping Springs instead of a US Congressman because you have more influence - over a much smaller fiefdom.

I don't think UT is dealing from weakness at all. They have their choice of conferences - B10, Pac10, B12. If this is a negotiating ploy that ends with them in the Pac10, great. My criticism is if the end result of this is staying with the B12. We have no idea if or when they will have another opportunity to bolt and what will be available - we already missed one chance in the 1990's. I hope they don't do it again.

Yes, money talks, as does influence in the Lege, and the influence from members of the Legislature itself. I think state representatives and senators are driving a lot of the move to remain in the the Big 12. They can create untold grief for UT, etc., if they want to. This potential move just might be enough to make them talk tough in private, and their quiver isn't empty.

If they let UH in, UT, OU, A&M and Arkansas would want their Houston games at Reliant. Is that a monkey wrench?

I can't imagine that it'd be a deal breaker for UH, who would do cartwheels if given a Big 12 invite with Arkansas. Not that it's likely to happen. I sure like the idea, though. I think Major is jonesin' for the annual trips to the West Coast! ;)

Grooglie already said it, but apparently the FedEx report was bunk.

Did John Moore die? That's news to me.

O'Quinn's estate made a hefty contribution to U of H, so, I don't know what you mean by the Sugar Daddy remark. He's given more in death to the University than he ever could in life, sadly/ironically.

I think U of H could go balls to the wall given a 5 year probationary period for entry into the new Big 12. Same as when they entered the SWC. Give us performance/attendance/academic/facility standards to meet by 2015 and I bet it would happen. If not, kick us out, no harm, no foul.

How about in 2020 they revaluate the whole again and then maybe UH will be ready by then..

How about you sneak into the education committee meeting Wednesday and whisper in some ears. I like how you think.

I don't think that is a good analogy. I think a better analogy would be that you could either create the League of Nations or create the United Nations. League of Nations will have a lot more power, but you have to give up some autonomy.

I don't know if a UT channel will work, but I think UT has better hopes than you do about it. It would be nice if they created a channel and used it more than just for sports. A lot of interesting science goes on at UT.

    Here's a thought....

LA is a super huge market.....and that's important WHEN USC IS GOOD.

But USC may not be good for a very long while. Literally, this could set them back a decade.

I wonder if thought was given to that in this decision....if the size of the LA market was marginalized by perceived lack of interest going forward....

because LA isn't known for showing up or tuning in to USC games when USC ain't that good.

    just a thought

    I've been emailing several legislators.

John Whitmire, the Biggest Badass in the Senate, is FIRMLY in our corner.

I just question the UH fanbase, most students I meet seem to be fairweather fans who commute to the school. It's tough to fill up a stadium that way.

Bringing up performance/attendance/academic/facility standards in 5 years is not as easy as it sounds
