if we stay true to school allegiance, major will make all the decisions and i'll just do what he says. :)

Max: let's order up some Chinese

    Major: I hate Chinese food

    Max: yeah, me too.

The pro is Jerry Jones get to bring the Ary's to the Jerry Bowl and keep his Big 12 Championship contract.

He can't tout his team in Dallas when it is in the SEC. If they come back to the SWC he gets to grabass with all his Texas business buddies.

Yeah, I'm in town right now, I pretty much wasted all day yesterday b/t the WC, UT/TCU and trying to make sense of what's actually happening here. Media overload. I'm gonna go play in the garden, hit a swimming hole and grill stuff until you call.

this is my favorite post in this thread because it features "grabass" as a verb.

Well that's just ridiculous. In that scenario, Fake Dan Beebe's mention of catastrophic inflation actually rings true. Over 18 years, even at just 3% inflation, that $18MM is only worth $10MM in today's dollars. So 18 years from now, Texas would get... basically what they are getting now? All around absurd.

I can't figure out what the compelling reason to stay is. Lets rank each conference from different perspectives (all my guesses):

    Financial: Big10, Pac16, SEC, B12
    Academic: Big10, Pac16, B12, SEC
Future Stability: Big10/Pac16/SEC, MWC, CUSA, BigWest, Southland, ... B12
Simplicity of Transition / Preservation of Status Quo: B12, Big10/SEC, Pac16
    Culture: Pac10, B12, Big10, SEC

Am I missing something? Under what possible logic does B12 end up the top overall choice here?

In the logic that this game is really about the ego's of the alumni movers and shakers.

They all know each other from the years of the SWC and Big 12. They don't deal, work, hunt or party with the bigwigs of the Big 10 and Pac 10.

if Big 12 can match media dollars of SEC for Arkansas, it's a no-brainer. I don't know if they can or not.

athletics...SEC is damn tough in football. and there are lots of folks in Arkansas that say they stopped getting top flight Texas recruits once they stopped playing in Texas regularly.

hearing dynamics of a new deal with Fox are already worked out for Big 12....link as soon as I can find one or as soon as it gets sent to me.

keep in mind....ABC/ESPN is losing here. keep that in mind when you consider reporting in the face of what Chip is saying.

And I still can't understand how Beebe is getting a Big12-2 TV deal that pays more for less of a product.

As to the stability, agree totally. How is this anything but SWC redux?
