Look, I'll admit that the rivalry meant more on this side (Arkansas) because Texas always had A&M and OU but to say it was/is not a rivalry is sort of foolish in my opinion....

That has a ton to do with college politics. When first discussions of renewing the rivalry, Texas would only agree to a 2 game series, Arkansas wanted 4. Then recently they tried to revive it and Arkansas weaseled out of the deal and started one with A&M. That sort of stuff happens, it doesn't mean it's not a rivalry. They still do it in other sports, such as basketball recently and while Texas was relevant last year Arkansas sucked yet it still was a national game.

My whole point of bringing Arkansas up was in regards to the people who don't think that UT may be serious about not scheduling A&M for a while. I don't think that the cold shoulder will last 12 years like it did with Arkansas (whom I believe put more stock in the rivalry than Texas did); but we may go a few years without that Thanksgiving game if the two schools split.

    Texas-USC on thanksgiving day?

and i'm not trying to insult Ark, but that's the point, they have a history which I acknowledge. and i even acknowledge that ark was fairly dominant the last few years, hell that's part of the reason whey they went SEC, because at the time it was a better conference offering better comp.

but history and rivalry is different.

Yeah, and they'd be in different divisions so it wouldn't work anyway.

It can work. Look at Tennessee and Alabama.

True. But they'd have to agree to play that one out-of-division foe every year rather than rotate games from the other division.

Beebe is such a jackass. He lost complete control of his conference after it was only rumored that the Big 10 was going to offer NU, he then let's NU and CU walk without putting up any type of a fight. And now that the Pac-10 and SEC pretty much cherrypicked the rest of the teams, he's making a false promise to maybe try to save his job for a year or two.

I really hope the Big 12 presidents laughed in his face when he told them to expect $17 million a year because that's what I would have done.

i don't have specifics yet but i'm getting that there's some momentum towards keeping the Big XII together with the 10 remaining today.

dude, get off it, i never said that was a prerequesite, I'm just pointing out that those games are big deals with traditions.

I see you're five years older than me, are you really claiming that ark is on the level of a&m or ou.

answer the question no one wants to, if they go separat ways, will tx stop playing a&m?

at some point its not a rivlary, its just a series that had some significant games

If you play each other every year since 1894 and it is always for statewide bragging rights, it is a rivalry.

If this is not a rivalry to you, then you must think that sports rivalries are mythical like the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny.
