The state fair isn't going on around Thanksgiving.

I doubt they'd abandon the whole concept of the OU/UT RRS thing at a neutral site to move A&M earlier.

The Arkansas-UT rivalry seemed to be pretty strong back in the day.

How long was it after Arkansas bolted for the SEC that UT scheduled them again? Or have they only met in Bowl Games?

    Google is my friend.

To answer my own question, from their last SWC meeting in 1991 it wasn't until the 2003 season that UT scheduled Arkansas again for football. 12 seasons.

Yep. UT can hold a grudge.

tamu to the sec just feels right. The sec reminds me of a good old country boy conference. I mean, its like the deep south at its best and worse. What makes it great is they care about every sport and they know its all about athletics and dont try to hide it. I'm not saying these schools dont care about academics, but 100000 people arent showing up at johnny's chemistry class to see him make the grade. All those teams fill up stadiums and they're state teams. The state of alabama pulls for auburn or bama. Tennessee pulls for the vols. Thats what make it great. The pac 10 isnt anywhere on the same level as far as intensity with the sec. Ok,out,ut,and tamu would be better served in the sec. I mean those 4 teams in the west with lsu, miss, miss state, and 1 more team would be brutal, yet very entertaining. Nothing in the pac 10 could top that. I guess we will see, but if i were tamu, i would want to be in the sec.

I don't know... some people seemed mighty butt-hurt about this. Sounds like a rivalry thing to me.

You don't think so? I remember that being one of the bigger rivalries when I was a kid.

This is back in the Southwest Conference days, of course.

    54-20 is not a rivalry

they have history, but it wasn't ut-ou or even ut-a&m, it was just a bunch of games.

yeah, people were upset about the upside down horns sign but it has nothing to do with the history between ut-ark.

I think you're lying to yourself, most people within the program seem to acknowledge a rivalry there.

i'll give ark credit, I think they were dominating the series in the last few years before they bolted. I remember the games as a kid also, ken hatfield who ended up at rice coaching the wishbone.

How many times did UT play TCU or SMU through the SWC, once the SWC broke up those games went away

What constitutes a rivalry in your book? Just sounds foolish.

    read the article.

*edit: whatever. you're entitled to not acknowledge arkansas as your personal rival. congratulations.

With that logic, UT-A&M isn't much of a rivalry either.

The Longhorns lead the series 75-36-5

What people don't realize is that outside the Jackie Sheryll era where he bought his team, A&M hasn't done much other than playing for the spoiler against the longhorns.
