well it is good for UA in that their doors will be more opened to TX recruiting...it sucks since they will have to get through UT and OU to win the division.

I think this would be great for everyone - especially if A&M actually manages to get to the SEC and get away from Texas and they add a BYU or a Kansas.

#1: Creates two divisions in the Pac 10 so there's not as much travel / timezone concerns.

#2: A&M gets to compete on it's own instead of always being little brother to Texas.

#3: As the only remaining member, Baylor gets to win the Big 12 South by default. :)

#4: Pac10 benefits by jumping in line and getting their schools before the B10 and SEC start taking away options.

If this happens, obviously, the B12 is gone. Nebraska and Mizzou bolt to the Big10; not sure what happens to Baylor, Iowa State, and K-State (and maybe Kansas if A&M goes to the Pac10). What I find most difficult to believe, though, is that the Pac10 would allow their academic standards to drop to accomodate some of the schools they are talking about. That's always been a huge piece for them. But the good news is that it seems we'll know something legit sooner rather than later.

Competing with USC may not be such a bad thing now that I think about it... although you know those Austin cheerleaders > USC "Trojans" Cheerleaders.

once all the big schools leave, wouldn't the big 12 turn into another minor conference? UH would just be making a lateral maneuver.

If this happens, you can bet that the Big 12 will disband almost immediately. I would really like to see the Big 12 be salvaged but the Pac-10 would be my conference of choice if we have to move.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Dan Beebe out of job either, the guy has proven to be completely imcompetent IMO.

A little bit of an update on all this(Looks like Nebraska "holds the key"):

    Other notes:
Texas politicians trying to get Baylor included instead of Colorado
Big 12 has reportedly given Mizzou and Nebraska a deadline to commit to the Big 12.

The Mutually Assured Destruction theory says that Nebraska will blink and commit to the Big 12.

It is the course with the least possibly fatal risks.

The last time? When one of their best players was selected 1st into the NFL? This isn't about who is good now. It never is in college football. Its about the teams that are historically relevant and have undying fan support.

What is so special about Baylor?
Why would politicians fight for them?
