It also shows goodwill if UT "demands/demanded" that Baylor gets brought into the Pac-10 as well. Goodwill in the sense that "Hey, we're the big Texas schools and we were all in the Big 12, so we should try and stick together! Yee Haw!" just so that critics (or politicians) in the future won't come back and say "UT screwed over Baylor by not even trying to get Baylor a taste of that Pac-16 teat! So now we'll try to screw UT over!" eye-for-an-eye mentality.

Hmm, wonder what strings Jerry Jones is pulling since he stands to lose the three Big 12 Championship games that were to be played in Cowboys Stadium?

I bet he has already called the PAC proposing to host a PAC 16 Championship game.

Come on SamFisher, we are talking about the backslappers in politics and the smoke and brandy rooms here, not the people sitting at the football games with their faces painted.

I didn't even think of that. I'll take solace in the fact Jerry might get the screw-job.

Yeah but it looks like other conferences will be expanding.

I cannot remember but was there this much commotion when the ACC raided the Big East and the Big East raided CUSA several years ago?

Baylor alumni will get over it (or not get over it) just like the alumni of UH, TCU, SMU, and Rice. Life will go on.

TCU is looking pretty good and they did it all without sucking on UT and A&M's teet.

    Good for them.

Mark May on ESPN right now saying, even with the loss of these 2 schools, the Big XII is still a better football conference than the Pac 10 or Big 10. :)

Says he thinks it's going to take time...and not going to be an immediate domino fall. Talking about the Big XII trying to pick off other teams to replace them.

    Ultimately...Texas is in control.

    Pac-10 announces Colorado on Board

The Pac-1o conference announced Thurday that the University of Colorado has agreed to leave the Big 12 to join its conference.

A source with direct knowledge of the Pac-10's discussions about adding more Big 12 teams told ESPN's Joe Schad on Thursday that from the Pac-10's perspective, it's "simply a matter of who signs next."

Colorado's move might spell the end for the Big 12 Conference. Nebraska is also poised to announce its move from the conference to the Big Ten.

The Boulder Daily Camera reported that Texas Gov. Rick Perry has asked Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Baylor to meet Thursday so they can talk about ways the four state schools could remain in the same conference. A source confirmed to ESPNDallas.com's Jeff Caplan that the four schools will meet Thursday.

A Big 12 football coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach on Wednesday night that if Nebraska left the Big 12 the conference would dissolve, according to his athletics director and university president. The coach said Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado would join the Pac-10, leaving Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri and Iowa State behind.

The coach said the Pac-10 favored Colorado over Baylor because of the Buffaloes' presence in the Denver TV market.

"Nebraska is the key," the coach said.

A source close to the Nebraska program told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that athletic director Tom Osborne informed some staff members within the past 24 hours the Cornhuskers were going to make the move to the Big Ten conference.

A source with knowledge of the Big Ten's plans confirmed to ESPN.com that Nebraska will join the Big Ten by the end of the week or early next week. The source said the formal process of accepting a candidate either has started or would be under way shortly, as Nebraska must formally apply for admission to the Big Ten.

"It's going to happen, unless something crazy happens in the final hours," the source said. "I think by this weekend, it's going to be wrapped up."

Besides Nebraska, no other candidates are imminent for the Big Ten, which could stay put with 12 members, the source said.

Another Big 12 coach said Wednesday night that an anticipated Nebraska announcement of moving toward the Big Ten Thursday would indeed trigger the death of the Big 12 and a mass migration west.

"If Nebraska leaves," the coach said, "everyone has to look."

The new conference would be split into divisions with Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado forming an Eastern Division with Arizona and Arizona State opposite the former Pac-8 (USC, UCLA, Stanford, California, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State) in the Western Division.

The coach said it's possible the Pac-16 would push for two automatic bids to the BCS, one for each division champion. That potential bonanza could open the possibility of the two division champs from one league playing for the national title, and it would eliminate the need for a conference championship game.

"The Pac-10 doesn't believe in a championship game," the coach said. "And coaches in the Big 12 don't like it anyway."

Baylor alums...I understand your frustration if you are left out of a conference that you think you deserved to join. Kind of like when my Horned Frogs got screwed out of the Big 12 by Baylor due to political connections. Guess what...TCU survived and thrived due to playing in a weaker conference. So can you.

I mean seriously, there isn't one good non-selfish reason why Baylor should get an invite for football related reasons. Just like there wasn't a good reason why Baylor should have been in the Big 12 and the results showed that.

I hope you guys get in for the sake of your program's reputation, but I really don't see why you deserve to go at all. Like I said, getting screwed by Baylor helped out TCU tremendously and maybe if you get screwed out of the Pac-10, it might help your program as well. Who knows?

So, what, 75% of the conference is going to bolt and May still thinks the Big 12 is going to be good? I'm confused with his logic.

no no...he's saying there are 10 teams left right now. he's saying he doesn't think it's a given that the other schools bolt for the Pac 10. he's saying that with who is left RIGHT NOW (assuming CU and NU are the only ones to leave) that they still have a superior football conference to either Pac 10 or Big Ten

Exactly and it is hard to argue against that. Losing Colorado and Nebraska isn't much of a loss for the Big XII in any sport, in my opinion.
