Rutgers would make sense because it would get the B10 Network on expanded basic cable in NYC, I believe.

This part is just my opinion, but for me, the key comment the B10 made that I took something from was that the expansion could happen "in stages". Everyone knows the B10 wants Notre Dame, but that's been true for 15 years, and ND has turned them down every time. ND has a gravy train with their independence and the NBC deal, and they know it. What could change their minds? Well, if this whole "superconference" concept comes to fruition, that would make independents and non "superconference" members increasingly irrelevant, and would put a lot more pressure on Notre Dame to accept an offer.

So ND could be part of the initial "package", or it could be 2-3 of the others, with further expansion remaining on the table as part of the B10's poker game with ND.

A&M and UT pretty much dominate this market. There is no need for UH to join a conference to tap into Houston. I mean UH obviously has some weight in the community, but not enough for a major conference to actually get excited about what they bring as a market share.

I still don't know why Notre Dame would join a conference. They have a big time TV deal that pays them $9 million per season, they have the BCS label without being in a BCS conference, and they have some historic rivalries that might have to die if they did join a conference. Why would they?

Orangebloods.com: Several officials in the Big 12 South have said if Nebraska leaves the conference, the Big 12 is dead.

Orangebloods.com: Nebraska regents have informally agreed to leave for the Big Ten. A formal announcement will come Friday.

Yeah... I think a lot of schools, at least in the Big 12, basically know what's going to happen. But I think that ultimately, they'll stall until the Big Ten makes the first official move. Note Deloss Dodds' comment of "We didn't start it, but we can finish it." Obviously the Texas and OU's of the world would prefer the Big 12 to stay intact, and don't want the appearance of leading the destruction.

I think the contingency plans are effectively complete and just waiting on the Big Ten to fire the first shot. Which, by the way, both the Missouri and Nebraska curators have meetings the next two days. Of course, both had been planned for some time... but a move would need curator approval, and with Friday already being tossed out as the day by a lot of sources... that's a lot of smoke.

Because scheduling is going to become very difficult if the superconferences come together and ND isn't in one of them. Not to mention there is a lot more money to be made for ND in the Big 10 payout (especially if they go Big 16) than in there tv deal. There's also no guarantee that when the next contract is negotiated ND is left with an auto-entry into a title game. It's already very difficult for them to get in.

Because the B10 Network generates more than $20MM per school - so schools like Indiana and Minnesota are getting more than twice as much as Notre Dame. It's the same reason Texas and Nebraska are looking to bolt the B12 - it all comes down to money. Essentially, the ND independent structure is becoming financially archaic. How much that ultimately matters to ND is still up in the air, though.

Nobody in Houston watches UH games. UT and OU together have the dallas market and UT and ATM do well in Houston.

UH doesn't sell out their stadium and people don't watch them play on TV. It's not worth adding ANOTHER texas team to the 4 texas team big 12 south.

I'm getting late to this but how is Nebraska that valuable...they haven't done crap this decade and its not like its a big tv market draw...they eat corn 3 times a day...

on a side note, it's inevitable for restructuring to happen...although, in any conference that adds teams, it shrinks revenue sharing, unless they get a bigger tv contract...

missouri may not have a big10 invite...only neb.

would be ironic if the school that started this, missouri, ends up left out :)

One of the reasons B12 South schools think league can't survive w/o Neb is how bad relationship with Mizzou has deteriorated.

nah...blame Mizzou and Nebraska. if they said, "yep, we're committed to the Big XII" then the Big XII wouldn't be going anywhere this year.

They did win 3 championships in the 90s. They hover around the top of value among all big 12 teams. Losing them, the Kansas City market in Missouri and the Colorado/Denver market in Colorado makes the north completely worthless.
