I agree with that but its not about competitiveness. In the grand scheme of things, no one cares about skiing championships or even Baylor's competitiveness in men's and women's basketball. The problem with Baylor is that they bring nothing to the table in terms of expanding the demographics of the Pac-10. This is about expanding viewership which translates into more $$. CU brings the Colorado market (as big or small as it may be). Baylor doesnt bring anything at all as they're down the list in a media market dominated by UT and A&M.

Like I said earlier, I go to CU and the fan base and market is totally different than Texas. No one in Denver (or at the school itself) follow CU like Texans follow their college teams. I don't even go to football games anymore and I think we only sold out 2 basketball games this season (but tiickets are only $1). They don't charge to watch any other sporting event at the school and no one follows them anyway. Not every football game is even televised I don't think, same for basketball. The stadium usually has as many fans from the other team as it does from Colorado.

it's not baylor's fault that lane meyer, the best high school skier of all-time, committed to baylor in 1985 only to spurn them at the last minute to go to france with his new girlfriend monique. the program has never recovered.

Plus, the Pac10 prefers state universities or sectarian schools with large endowments, not small private religious ones.

What's somewhat amazing to me is that Okie State has the most national championships of all the schools in the Big 12. Granted, they're mostly in golf and wrestling, but still...

listening to 610 right now.. Berry Warner said his "sources" have said UH might be included in the expansion. He said he's heard that UH would play their games at Reliant Stadium until there new stadium is made. He said Reliant Stadium will attract schools like USC and UCLA. He also mentioned A&M doesn't like this idea..

Barry Warner also said Texas Tech wouldn't qualify in the pac 10 expansion because of academics..

This doesn't make any sense to me cause UH academics equal or might be even worse TTU academics

Complete garbage. No way that happens. UH should try to get into the new Mountain West if the big 12 falls apart but I don't know if there would be room after they take Whyoming, Kansas and Kansas St

CU Regents say no invite from Pac 10.

Not in this article...but I'm hearing from some people I trust that the "big news" they're talking about out of CU is very, very bad for CU. Involving the NCAA coming down on them and taking away scholarships for poor graduation rates. I don't know that with any first-hand information... but I suppose we'll find out tomorrow.

EDIT: apparently my people and orangebloods have been talking:

Colorado expected to get bad news from NCAA APR Wednesday: football and basketball both stand to lose scholarships.

At the end of the day, Texas controls this whole thing. If Texas says, "we're bringing Baylor", then in all likelihood Baylor will be in the PAC 16.

What makes the invite Big 12 only exactly? Can Arkansas not tag along? You really make a statement by dipping into the SEC too.
