You know, because we have such a record of not beating OU. 45-35 on a neutral field, and if you are claiming that only OU has gotten better since October, you may as well change your handle to "AnythingbutLonghornFan". OU lost two linebackers, we gained a legit RB... I think we'd have the same, if not better, chance of winning if we met again.
I don't agree with this. OU has played two teams with very good defensive lines this year. One of those teams (Texas) beat them. The other (OSU) held Oklahoma in check for a quarter or so before starting to be winded, and then completely ran out of gas in the 4th quarter. OU's offense falls apart at times if a team can get pressure on Bradford and make those running lanes just a tad too small, and Texas's D-line is still healthy and playing just as well as they did at the Cotton Bowl. Now you can't completely stop OU's offense, but you can hold them down enough to beat them. The biggest challenge if they were to re-match would be if Kindle can cover OU's young TE.
it's razor thin, but i'd put USC over Tech because of schedule and overall season performance. both teams have two ranked wins, but Tech played two lower-div teams and its loss was an embarrassing blowout.
wow, ou's win over cincy really was amazing and deserving of praise. they were able to beat a mighty 7-6 hawaii team and go 6-1 in the daunting big east. might as well give us a bunch of credit for beating rice.
Get over it already. Yes the BCS points sucked, yes we got screwed, I'm just sick to ****ing death about reading about it on this board every damn day. Life goes on, I have a job in one of the worst recessions in history, I have money to put food on the table and pay my bills...worrying about stupid football games is not a top priority in my life at the moment. Being an adult with a safe job kinda rules right now. Worrying about Colt winning the Heisman or a football title, not so much. That kinda takes a back seat to real life.
One reason I'd like to see a BCSCG that is not all Big 12 teams is because of the OSU/Michigan scenario of 2006. Both those teams looked great throughout the entire season. Both go undefeated. Michigan loses by 3 in the last game of the year to the #1 OSU team. Pretty good argument that they should go to the NC game based on that. Then both teams step out of their conference in their two bowl games and get crushed in each of them. I don't think you can really judge how good a team is until they go out of conference against another elite team.
Texas beat the No. 1 team in the nation (OU at the time and quite likely again this week), "lost" their conference on a the most ridiculous technicality and has a much tougher schedule. Also, I can assure you losing the National Championship to Texas, be it by one point, is about as bad as it could get for an OU fan.
This is not the same argument! Ohio State won the game and were ranked ahead of Michigan. Texas is getting left out despite beating OU and having the same record. In regards to conferences, that's certainly true, but the Big 12 and SEC have been by far the best this year, so I'm really not worried about that happening.
I dreamed it in my head last night that Florida is going to get shafted and stuck at 3rd. Texas and OU for the championship. Too bad I don't have the clairvoyant qualities of Michael Crabtree. I really did have that dream and then I woke up disappointed.
I understand that, and I think Texas should have been in the Big 12 Championship in the first place. But now that Texas already received the Big 12 shaft, I'd rather see a matchup between the two best conferences in the nation, rather than seeing a rematch of a division game that was already played on a neutral field earlier this year. You have to face a tough test out of your conference to really judge how good your team is.
I know last night was the first time some of you saw Florida actually play. I don't want to argue everything point by point, but some of the criticism here about Florida's offense is a bit much. Florida is the 3rd highest scoring offense in the nation, behind OK (who, as we've all seen, loves running up the score - hey, more power to them) and Tulsa. And last night they faced the 6th best defense in the nation.
I've only skimmed through this, but please, please don't tell me that someone is seriously trying to use OU's demolition of us as evidence that voters made the right call and that they were the Big XII's best team. Did October 18 not exist or something?
