OSU did UT a huge solid today, knocking Kansas out of first place in the Big XII With 4 games left (at KSU, at Tech then home to Neb and OSU) Texas is in first place. If they win out and go deep in the conference tourney I could easily see them being a No 2 seed in the South with Memphis being the no 1 depending on tonight. Texas road to the Final Four could be Little Rock for rounds 1 & 2, Houston for Regionals and finally San Antonio.
Would you rather have that scenario or be a #1 team somewhere other than houston (i assume memphis will have that #1)? If Texas wins out I'd imagine they would have a good claim to a top seed.
I don't really see much difference between a No. 1 seed or a No. 2 seed, maybe slightly tougher match ups later on in the tourney, but the home court advantage would be huge for the Horns, and Memphis is legit, but they don't scare me right now because besides tonights game with Tennessee they haven't really haven't played the same level of competition that the Horns have.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/basketball/ncaa/02/23/njit.winless.ap/ NJIT finishes perfect. 0-29, and on a 33-game losing streak.
Another nice...albeit tough...road win for the Horns. Should be able to run the last 3 regular season games (@ tech, home for Nebraska & OSU). Still might take winning the Big 12 tourney to get that #1 seed, but they are clearly one of the best teams in the country right now...and it's because of DJ Augustine. Beasley is a dominant player...but he cannot carry his team like DJ does.
The home cooking would be nice, but it just depends on how the brackets lay out. Right now, Lunardi has UT as the #1 in the West with UCLA at 2. In that case, yeah, I'd take a #2 in the South. Either way, I'm enjoying watching how good this team has become. They didn't play particularly well tonight and still got a solid win on the road against a good team.
This is poetic justice: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/x_3ml_n3-rA&rel=1&border=0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/x_3ml_n3-rA&rel=1&border=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I just heard.. you should have seen my reactions in chat mere minutes ago. I am fricking jinxed. Yao and PP in the same week.
Its especially sad because like the Rockets they overcome a bad start and begin climbing. With their fate now in their own hands against Tennesse. Painful.
Their seasons have been eerily similar... but this takes the cake. Same injury, same foot, same week... its just unbelievable. The Cats probably have no shot to make it into the NCAA's now.. the first time since the Pitino probation year that we didn't make it.
Don't know what it is with UT letting these inferior teams hang around with them. They barely beat Nebraska tonight...a game they should, in theory, win big. Still have to beat a hot OSU team on Sat to clinch #1 in the Big 12.
I only have this to say: PAC-10 OFFICIALS SUCKS MAN ***** FIRST THEY KILLED ARIZONA BY GIVING KEVIN LOVE FREEBIES, NOW THEY GIVE TOOK AWAY STANFORD'S VICTORY AGAINST UCLA
