Yeah, the real issue here is that Augie was at a singles bar on W 6th street (where the average age of girls is probably 23-25) getting drunk and then gets a DWI. This is somehow acceptable at UT? How was he not fired on the spot??
I have zero problem with a guy making a mistake, owning up to it, paying his dues and keeping his job. I am sure if Texx got a DUI he would not be fired. So, BIG FRICKEN DEAL ! DD
The difference is the nature of the job. It is a big deal when your job is mentoring kids. Augie himself says that he's more of a mentor/role model than a baseball technician. This example flies in the face of that stance.
are you saying he's setting a bad example by owning up to it, pleading guilty, paying his fines, and doing his time?
No difference at all, and they are over 18 years old, not kids, but young adults, and what better example could they get about life then seeing a man make a mistake, live up to it, and pay his dues.... Augie is setting an excellent example..... And he is paying his dues. Good for him. Your kind of thinking is the kind that gets overly pioused people in deep doo doo...... Forgiving is required in Christianity, you should try it some time DD
I love it when the t-shirt fans come to the rescue. That silly article you posted about the Rice police was pure hearsay and speculation. Augie was convicted, brah
hearsay not facts? Rice University Police Department's Web site -- a detailed account of every person stopped by police -- locations, dates and times.
So was your comment about Sergio Kindle's latest exploits. At least Augie is taking his medicine, regardless of his standing in the community. Looks to me like Rice U and their students think they're above the law.
that's nice, as they should have been stopped by the police. But where is the proof that they were given preferential treatment? I love these little sideswipes at Rice in the UT threads (and always by the t-shirt fans who didn't even go to UT like DaDakota, Googlerux and Leroy). "Quick, let's try to bring down Rice because we know we're in way over our heads in trying to defend UThug!"
I'm not a fan of UT and not defending UT. I just don't think that coaches where ever they work should be fired for their 1st DUI especially if they weren't involved in an accident, pleaded guilty, and did time.
For someone who didn't go to UT, you seem to have an unhealthy infatuation with them. Why do you care so much about what happens to a tiny percentage of their student population? I am a fan of UT sports even though I didn't go there. I won't apologize for that. Doesn't bother me in the least. I don't know why it bothers you.
....and the video of his arrest has surfaced. Now this is just sad. What a piece of trash http://www.clipsyndicate.com/video/play/1031595/video_of_garrido_dwi_arrest_released
