When did I say she didn't have the right to express herself? You don't like my opinion, so now I am a fascist? You and ewfd need to chill out. She has to right to make ineffective political statements, I have the right to criticize her, and you have the right to say I am wrong.
You could say the same for Bush really. Forcing a very controversial issue down our throats, whether we like it or not.. I'd say he's being disrespectful to us and opportunistic in his methods of using post 9-11 fears to fuel a war for economic and political interests.
My critisism is her choice of venue. Not her actions. Not her opinion. The fans at that game did not come to hear a war debate. Again, she's free to express her views as she chooses, but I think is open to charges of being oportunistic when, as a lesser basketball player, she uses that stage for her views.
I suppose if she was a vegetarian and it was USA tradition to eat some veal before each sporting event, we should criticize her for expressing her view on that too.
Of course, you didn't just say I was wrong though. You attributed an attitude to me that I never expressed, and then tried to drown my opinion out with your "group think" bbs buddies. You became the exact kind of person you were complaining about in this thread. The irony continues.
If she really is doing what she feels rather than being opportunistic, what else should she do? I guess she could possibly to go the locker room while the anthem is being played. And I'm not sure how they're "hearing" a war debate. Why was anyone looking at her anyway, aren't they suppose to be looking at the flag during the anthem?
Well...though is scares me, and often baffles me, I do expect to hear about world political views from Bush and Co. He is likely being opportunistic with 9-11 but the whole terrorism; world politics is his bag. I may wish he were still grumbling about Florida recounts, but y'all had a funny election down there. Again, I think she choose an inappropriate forum, but if she feels so strongly on this issue she feels it’s important to draw attention to herself, all the more power to her. I'll still criticize her though.
I wonder if she would have the gumption to do this at a sporting event, only as a spectator? The relative safe haven her teammates may create makes it alot easier to do than if she were in the stands.
You certainly can read a lot into one emoticon, can't you? If I misconstrued your statements, I apologize. If you believe that she has the right to protest, then you and I are in total agreement. And if you want to protest her protest, then, of course, that is your right as well.
Lisa: Mom, Bart ate a greenbean during the blessing Bart: Eating isn't worse than opening eyes Lisa: Is so Bart: Is not Lisa: Is so Bart: Is not . . . . heath -- you keep saying her protest is ineffective. But DAMN has it gotten some reaction . . . I mean, it's certainly been effective at evoking reaction and discussion . . .
Probably not. People would be stupid enough to throw things at her, curse at her, and even physically attack her. U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A!
It one thing to complain about the house your living in, it's another thing to disrepect the parent who provided it for you. That's the difference. She's gone to the level of disrespect. And that's ok too, but your not going live under my roof if you do that. You can complain about the leaky sink, you can complain about the rats in the walls, and you can complain about whatever you want. But she's forgetting that she's been given someting for free. You respect that even if you don't like it.
ho ho ho you have a problem with metaphors? If you'd stop and think about it, it's actually a huge similarity..
Correct ,me if I'm wrong but hasn't even a Republican dominated Supreme Court ruled that Americans have the right to even burn the flag if they want, as a form of political speech.
