Look who introduced race into the argument? It was not a liberal but TJ. You then procede to tell 'young impressionable African Americans' what they need, as if YOU had any idea.
Actually ZRB did. Pretty obvious neither of them read the article if that's the main thing they have to say about it.
Sorry about saying that TJ introduced it then, but the fact still stands that he presumed to say what 'young impressionable need'.
Spot on. Once you take T_J's posts with the above grain of salt, they begin to look like the comedy they truly are. I actually enjoy reading his posts now, and they usually make me laugh.
Batman, I scanned the article. Looked like a puff piece. I appreciate that he is congenial, a good conversationalist and has cool decorations in his office and all. The piece seemed to just trying to clean Powell's image as he gets ready to depart to the Corporate Board -Golf-Honorarium circuit. On a certain level he must realize that guys like Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz will be too controversial to clean up on the banquet circuit and he has to distance himself in p for his post cabinet gig. Realitically if the guy wasn't an African American wouldn't he be just another Republican supporting Bush's war. I just heard Powell on the radio a few minutes ago. Following the party line. The sexual torture in Iraq has been handled promptly and professionally at the first possible instance that the innocent higher ups got an inkiling of what might have happened. All will be investigated and corrected asap, yada yada yada.
I think his extensive service to his country, both militarily and diplomatically, and his repeated efforts, in this administration and others, to emphasize diplomatic solutions over military ones might distinguish him, but that's just me.
