Great... now the whole team does well and we trade for a promising defensive SF (what we need), so what's left to be pissed at? How about the translator?
Actually, he's not just a translator. He's also a chauffeur, driving instructer and crowd control engineer (to keep away the riff raff).
it's really hard to translate from one langauge to another, because some saying in english might not exist in chinese, some words in english might not exist in chinese...
Colin does a very good work to be a mentor of Ming, I don't think the language skill is the most important thing. I like Colin, he is a very good guy.
Hey, you know how Yao has said some funny things through Pine? Is it all possible that Ming has absolutely no sense of humor and it was all Pine, either on purpose or just bad translating??? Just kidding of course
Colin really busted when Yao is visiting Golden State. When the media asked what Yao is going to do after game, Yao replied in Chinese that he will visit the Fishermen's Wharf. But Colin's initial translation was that Yao was going to visit a Fish Market. It is kind of pathetic a native not knowing what is Fishermen's Wharf. He also failed to understand a few Chinese idioms that Yao said. Overall, I will gave him a "C" on his performance. Acceptable but not professional.
Yeah, he's blackhole too. Any of you suspect that some of the humorous quotes from Yao in the press are actually the result of Pine's mistranslation of the questions?
Coline Pine just hit the rookie wall. All rookies go through this so lets be patient with him. Remember he did not have training camp or any camp at all before now.
Actually, he did have training camp. He was here learning the plays before Yao arrived. So there is NO EXCUSE, you Pine apologists!
Pine will be fine. David Aldrige (sp) just needs to work on his English. Pine is an All Star Translator.
